Mercedes-Benz GLB Lease Deals

The Mercedes-Benz GLB is Germany’s answer to the Land Rover Discovery Sport. A compact SUV with seating for up to 7 people, it slots into the Mercedes range between the smaller GLA SUV and the slightly larger GLC. It’s a classy vehicle, inside and out, and comes in a choice of powerful and efficient diesel engines. That, combined with a spacious interior, makes a Mercedes-Benz GLB lease deal a great option for families.

  • The GLB is relatively small on the outside, but it’s roomy inside. Those in the front seats can enjoy a light, airy space, while those in the rear will also have ample head and legroom. That’s reduced in the third row, but for most the sixth and seventh seats will only be used occasionally – they’re handy for short trips, and kids will have no problems on comfort.

The luggage bay also measures 130 litres with all 7 seats upright – enough for a few shopping bags. Fold the back row down, however, and that jumps to 500 litres of boot space. With the rear and middle rows folded, there’s a huge 1,680 litres of space to play with, which is only slightly smaller than a Land Rover Discovery Sport lease, but not by much.

  • If you want the most economical GLB, a diesel is the best option. The 150hp 200d will manage 49.6mpg, while the 190hp 220d returns around 47mpg – a small decrease for a noticeable increase in power. The petrol engines are less efficient, although the 163hp 200 engine will return a respectable 39.2mpg. The high-performance AMG 35 model returns 31mpg, but that’s to be expected with more powerful engines.

That compares favourably with a Discovery Sport lease, which will manage around 44mpg in its most economical diesel form. However, the Land Rover is also available with plug-in hybrid power, whereas the GLB suits those looking for petrol or diesel alone.

Company car drivers looking for a GLB business lease will either go for the 200d, or opt for the tax-efficient Discovery Sport.

GLB SUV

The GLB is only available as a 5-door SUV. You can choose from a selection of petrol and diesel engines, and you get 7 seats as standard.

Even the basic AMG Line models come with plenty of standard equipment. You get 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and privacy glass, plus heated front seats and keyless start. There’s also a reversing camera, a digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch touchscreen media display.

The Mercedes-Benz GLB Vs Competitors

There’s just one major rival for the GLB, as the only other compact luxury SUV with 7 seats is the Land Rover Discovery Sport. Although a very capable and spacious car, it isn’t as economical as the GLB. For those who just want 5 seats, consider the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5, as well as the Volvo XC60.

And if you don’t care about the luxury interior or the premium badge, you have some other options. The Skoda Kodiaq is a great option, as is its sister car, the SEAT Tarraco. The stylish Peugeot 5008 is also well worth considering, alongside the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.

  • The A-Class, on which the GLB is based, performs solidly in reliability surveys. With so many shared components, that’s good news for the GLB. And with leasing, there’s the added benefit of a 3-year warranty that comes with every new car.

  • The GLB’s boot measures 500 litres with the two rear seats folded, or a huge 1,680 litres with the middle row also down. Even with all 7 seats upright, however, there’s 130 litres of space in the back – enough for a few bags of shopping.

  • The GLB range comprises 3 core trim levels, plus a special trim for the high-performance AMG 35 car. For conventional petrol and diesel models, the line-up begins with the AMG Line, before climbing through AMG Line Premium trim to reach the high-spec AMG Line Premium Plus. The sporty AMG 35 is the range-topping trim.

  • Yes. All versions of the GLB come with parking sensors at the front and rear. And a crystal-clear, wide-angle reversing camera is also standard, even on the entry-level models.

  • There’s plenty of space in the GLB. Front and rear passenger space is good, and the 3rd row of seats gives you extra flexibility. The back seats are best for children, but if you fold them away you get a good-sized 500-litre boot. With the middle and rear rows folded, space increases to 1,680 litres.

  • The luxury interior and flexible 7-seat layout make the GLB almost unique. If you don’t want a Discovery Sport, this is the only real contender. It’s a great family car, but one with a clear focus on luxury and a high-tech interior.

  • Vanarama offers the best personal and business lease deals on all manner of makes and models, including the Mercedes-Benz GLB. Leasing with us gives you a brand-new car for a fixed monthly payment, with several options for tailoring the agreement to your budget – through lease length, initial payment, annual mileage and others.

At the end of an agreement, you just hand the car back to us and pay nothing more, providing you’re within the agreed mileage and fair wear and tear. At that point, you’re free to walk away or upgrade to another new vehicle with Vanarama.
