If you are an E.ON energy customer chances are you will be greeted by a metre fitter in a Ford Transit Custom van next time you require their services. The energy company has recently taken delivery of 120 new Ford Transit Custom vans, complementing the company's existing 2000-strong fleet, the majority of which are Fords.
Granted, the majority of people are more likely to be looking for one reliable new van to run their business, rather than a fleet. Knowing the amount of research the big companies put into choosing the ideal vehicle however, it is reassuring to see the vehicle you are keen on being chosen by such a big corporation.
E.ON has selected Ford Transit Custom vans in the short wheelbase form, equipped with a 2.2 TDCi diesel engine. The vans will be modified to incorporate special racking in the load area, as well as telematics and an alarm system.
Ford is really pleased with the success of the Transit Custom so far and for good reason. It seems to be creating its own niche in the market while scooping awards including the International Van of the Year award as well as the Auto Express Van of the Year 2013.
In fact the success of the Custom has already led to Ford expanding the range with the launch of a new high-roof version of the Transit Custom van, which will offer 20% greater load volume and is available for order now for delivery later in the year.
