Motor manufacturer Ford, the current market leader for the year, has extended its lead gap over its nearest rival during a fruitful September sales month. Meanwhile total commercial vehicle registrations were strong in September, up *12.4%, helped of course by the plate change. The overall commercial vehicle market is still up 8.1% for the year to date with the faithful Ford Transit holding a 14.7% share of the commercial vehicle market for the year to date, compared to only 5.7% for its closest rival.
Put simply, Ford Transit, in its many guises, is the best selling van in the UK - in fact 2013 marks the 48th year it has held this title. Sales of the recently launched all-new Ford Transit Connect, recently voted International Van of the Year, have added to Ford's tally of sales with in excess of 7000 sold so far.
We think that the Transit is an iconic vehicle, but despite this Ford is not afraid to keep one step ahead of the times, constantly improving its range. 2013 has witnessed a complete redesign of the Ford commercial vehicle range which includes the new four-strong Transit range, the Transit Custom as well as the 2-tonne Transit and Transit Courier due for launch next year.
