Noticed anything different about nearby vehicle windscreens in the last few days? No, your neighbours haven't thrown caution to the wind, they really don't need to display paper tax discs any more.
We know that our customers are a savvy bunch so you probably already know this, but here's the info you need just in case. As of 1 October 2014 the paper tax disc will no longer be issued. This means you are no longer required to display a physical tax disc on your vehicle windscreen. This decision was announced in 2013, with the aim of reducing tax administration costs.
The change means that the tax disc is no longer transferrable when a vehicle has a change of keeper. When a vehicle changes hands, the Road Fund Licence will be refunded to the previous keeper and the new keeper will be responsible for obtaining a new Road Fund Licence.
Of course, this doesn't change the need for your tax to be up to date, and you can check your tax status here.
