BMW X3 Lease Deals

Since its initial launch in 2003, the BMW X3 has always placed the emphasis on providing a sporty drive in a family friendly SUV body. The latest version has retained its dynamic edge and now also offers class-leading tech and a superbly built cabin. It may not look vastly different from the outside, but the third-generation X3 has moved the game on in every respect compared to its predecessor. Despite some very accomplished rivals in this category, leasing a BMW X3 still makes a lot of sense.

BMW X3 Top Features

It offers plenty of space for passengers and cargo.

It has a great infotainment system.

There’s a spec and powertrain for most needs.

  • The BMW X3 has grown in size for the Mk3, which translates into plenty of space in the cabin for up to 5 occupants and 550 litres of boot space with the rear seats up. The total luggage area is a generous 1,600 litres, which is not quite as spacious as you get in the slightly larger Jaguar F-PACE and Land Rover Discovery Sport but matches both the Q5 and GLC. There is no 7-seat option here, though, like you get in the Discovery Sport.

Generously proportioned cupholders are integrated into the centre console and the door bins can take large bottles, too. Passengers in the rear get big door bins and the folding rear armrest houses 2 more cupholders.

  • Efficient petrol and diesel engines give the BMW X3 impressive fuel economy figures. The 190hp 4-cylinder diesel does 47.9mpg, while the 286hp 6-cylinder diesel is not far behind at 45.6mpg. Both have mild-hybrid tech, which helps to improve the economy figures and offers an additional 11hp during more meaningful acceleration.

The 2.0-litre petrol manages a combined 36.7mpg, but if you want the best on-paper economy then the xDrive30e plug-in hybrid adds a 109hp electric motor to this same 4-cylinder engine to deliver a claimed 148.7mpg. This figure will vary greatly depending on how much of your commute takes advantage of the 31 miles of all-electric range.

Aside from fuel, running costs should be limited to basic servicing and consumables during your lease. BMW offers a 3-year warranty on all new vehicles and the plug-in-hybrid comes with an additional 6-year, 60,000-mile warranty on the battery pack.

BMW X3 Models Available To Lease

X3 SUV

The X3 is available in the traditional SUV body style. It has seating for 5 – the rear-centre seat is a bit more cramped than the outer 2, though – and up to 1,600 litres of luggage space with the second row of seats folded down.

High-Performance Models

The M Performance models consist of the petrol-powered 360hp M40i (31.4mpg) and diesel M40d (43.5mpg). Both offer similarly strong performance figures, with the 0-62mph dash taking slightly less than 5 seconds. The range-topping 510hp X3 M Competition is the one to have if you prefer that figure to be closer to the 4-second mark. Just make sure you are happy with the 24.8mpg combined fuel economy.

X3 Trim Levels To Lease

SE xLine M Sport M (for M40d and M40i models) M CompetitionThe SE trim offers 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, an 8.8-inch infotainment screen with satellite navigation and a black leather interior, among more.

The BMW X3 Vs Competitors

There has never been so much choice in the compact premium SUV segment. It is comparable to the sporty Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Porsche Macan in performance, and Land Rover Discovery Sport and stylish Volvo XC60 in space and practicality. We’ve also pitted the X3 against the Mercedes GLC to see how they compare. The BMW X3 was the first premium SUV in this segment and it shows. This third-generation model continues to offer arguably the best combination of technology, performance and practicality around.
  • Yes. It is well built, comes with impressive features and covers a broad spectrum of performance and price points. It is enjoyable to drive, and is both comfortable and practical.

  • The BMW X3 offers 550 litres of boot space with the rear seats up and 1,600 litres with them down. This is on par with most offerings in the class, but trails some rivals like the Jaguar F-PACE and Land Rover Discovery Sport.

  • There are a number of great BMW X3 lease deals on a variety of trim levels. The X3 can be had in SE, xLine, M Sport, M and M Competition variants.

  • All X3s come fitted with parking sensors but you will have to pay extra for advanced parking assist features.

  • Both models offer plenty of interior space for passengers but the X5 can be had as a 7-seater and has more boot space. Whether that is worth the extra outlay depends on your needs.

  • The BMW X3 is a popular SUV to lease, thanks to its overall capability and impressive range of engine and trim options. It is both practical and sporty, making it suitable for a variety of motoring needs.
