Sublime driving experience.

  • Because the Porsche 718’s engine is mounted in the middle of the car for optimal weight distribution, you might expect a shortfall in practicality. But the hard-top Cayman models are especially roomy considering their size. In the cabin, there are just 2 seats, but each one comes with plenty of adjustment, ample headroom, and bags of shoulder room.

Speaking of bags, the 718 models get two different luggage bays in which to stow them. At the front, every version of the 718 comes with a 150-litre luggage tub, which is found under what would normally be the bonnet. It’s a deep load bay that won’t suit every kind of bag, but soft luggage will squeeze in with ease.

Luggage space at the rear is dependent on whether you choose a Boxster or a Cayman, with the hard-top cars offering more capacity. Open the 718 Cayman’s hatch and there’s a 272-litre space behind the seats, and that alone is the sort of room you get from a city car. Combine that with the front luggage bay and there’s more overall space in the Cayman than you get in a VW Golf. The Boxsters are less spacious, with a 122-litre rear load bay, as they sacrifice cargo space for somewhere to stash the fabric roof when it’s folded down.

  • With so much choice when it comes to engines, 718 customers can choose how powerful or efficient they want their car to be. Every version has plenty of performance – even the base models have 300hp – but the smaller engines are more economical. The standard 718 Cayman and Boxster models, with their 2.0-litre engines, will return up to 31.7mpg on the official economy test. The same goes for the lightweight Cayman T models.

Of course, the 4.0-litre models are thirstier, but they produce far more power. The standard GTS 4.0 has 400hp, while the race-focused GT4 RS model has 500hp. Yet even that will manage more than 21mpg on the official test.

Compare Your Porsche 718 Lease Deal

The 718 has a handful of distinguished rivals, ranging from the softer, more tech-centric Audi TT to the more hardcore Alpine A110, which is a match for the Porsche when it comes to handling but lacks the luxury and the power of more upmarket 718s. In between, there’s the BMW Z4, which is great to drive but less powerful, and the Toyota Supra, which is more of a grand tourer than an out-and-out sports car. Other rivals include the gorgeous Jaguar F-Type, which lacks a little finesse inside but drives very well, and the new Lotus Emira, which is another driver-orientated sports car.

  • Porsche’s cars are generally quite reliable and the 718 has been around for a while without too many issues. For those worried, though, there’s a standard 3-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.

  • Both the 718 Cayman and Boxster models come with a 150-litre luggage bay between the front wheels, while the Cayman gets a 272-litre rear boot. The Boxster, meanwhile, has a 122-litre rear luggage space.

  • The 718 is available in a wide range of trims, ranging from the basic Cayman and Boxster models to the top-of-the-range GT4 RS and Spyder versions. All are well equipped, with navigation systems, sports seats, and climate control as standard.

  • Yes, the 718 comes with front and rear parking sensors as standard.

  • The Porsche 718 is practical for a sports car, with hard-top Cayman models providing 272 litres of rear boot space and an extra 150 litres of capacity in the front. There’s only seating for two people, but the 718 gives both occupants plenty of room.

  • The 718 is the best sports car out there, mixing performance with style, quality, and luxury. No matter which version you choose to lease, you’re getting a great 2-seater that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

  • If you want to drive a brand-new Porsche 718 while making fixed monthly payments, choose Vanarama. We’re committed to delivering outstanding customer service and the best deals on the market – just see our Excellent rating on Trustpilot.
