MINI Convertible Lease Deals

There’s always been a sense of fun attached to the MINI. It’s a car that people drive because of how it makes them feel, not simply because it fulfils a purpose. So how do you take that feel-good factor and make it even better? Simple – you remove the roof.

The MINI Convertible offers all the style and sophistication of its hatchback cousins with the added appeal of open-air motoring, making it one of the best leasing options if you’re looking for a small convertible.

More practical than most small convertibles.

  • Practicality is a relative term with any small convertible. The boot is a modest 215 litres, but it’s usefully larger than that of the Fiat 500C and a significant step up from the luggage capacity of the Mazda MX-5. You can fold the rear seats down to give a much larger storage area and there’s a clever system that allows you to expand the boot opening by detaching the rear section of the roof.

  • Being small and light acts in the MINI’s favour when it comes to fuel economy. There are no diesel or hybrid options, and the MINI Electric is not yet available in Convertible form, but the petrol engines provide a good balance of performance and economy.

The Cooper Convertible is officially rated at up to 47.9mpg, while even the hardcore John Cooper Works manages up to 40.9mpg – both of which compare favourably with similarly quick competitors.

High-Performance Models

John Cooper Works

While the Cooper S offers an incremental step up in performance from the standard Cooper, it’s the John Cooper Works edition that really takes things to another level. Not only is it quick – 0-62mph takes just 6.6 seconds – but it sounds suitably sporty and utterly relishes twisty roads. For ultimate performance, the fixed-roof hatchback version is better still, but the convertible is arguably more exhilarating when you’ve got the roof down.

Trim Levels

In addition to the 4 main trim levels, there are a number of option packs to keep an eye out for (you can see the option packs fitted to each car when you browse MINI Convertible lease deals on Vanarama).

The 2 most common options are the Comfort Pack, which brings many luxuries – including heated seats in the front and automatic air conditioning – and the Navigation Pack, which includes satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay.

The MINI Convertible Vs Competitors

The MINI Convertible Vs Competitors

The MINI’s main rival when it comes to open-top retro fun is the Fiat 500. This actually comes in 3 convertible versions currently. The regular 500C is great around town and offers impressive fuel economy, but it’s not intended to compete with the MINI’s performance. For that, you’ll need to look at the Abarth 595 that’s sold by Fiat’s high-performance division.

The third option is the all-electric new Fiat 500C. This is, in fact, a completely different model produced alongside the existing 500 and sharing its classic Italian styling. It sits between the regular 500 and the Abarth in terms of performance, but the key difference is the all-electric drivetrain, which offers up to 199 miles of range.

In terms of sports cars, the Audi TT Roadster is somewhat larger and more expensive, but it offers 4 seats and MINI-rivalling interior quality. For a more practical option, check out the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet. It’s a drop-top version of the popular SUV, which sounds like a strange combination, but works surprisingly well.

  • Yes. MINI has a good reputation for reliability. The brand finished 4th in the 2020 What Car? Reliability Survey.

  • The MINI Convertible’s boot has a 215 litres capacity, it’s larger than those found in the Fiat 500C. Just be aware that lowering the roof does eat into this volume somewhat (which is not unusual for convertibles). You only get 160 litres with the roof down, but that’s still more than you’d get with a Mazda MX-5.

  • A wide range of lease deals are available for the MINI Convertible. There are 4 main trim specs – Cooper, Cooper S, Sidewalk Edition and John Cooper Works. Keep an eye out for the option packs as these can change the spec considerably.

  • Rear parking sensors are standard on all models. The Comfort Plus pack adds a rear-view camera, which can be useful as rear visibility isn’t overly generous with the hood up.

  • Everyone loves a MINI. The Convertible has the same sense of fun and quality as its hard-topped cousins, but it allows you to top up your tan at the same time. Or if the Great British weather refuses to oblige, there’s a simple and effective hood that turns into a cosy coupe.

  • If you want the best deal on your MINI Convertible, lease with Vanarama. Our Price Promise* guarantees you’ll get the lowest price on your lease. We offer flexible tailoring options and free 30-day returns should you change your mind.
