Vanarama is proud to be supporting Dacorum based charity, DENS, in its' drive to get homelessness off our streets, after supplying the charity with a brand-new Citroen Relay Luton van.
DENS aims to prevent homelessness right across Dacorum by offering temporary accommodation and help in resettlement to independent living, for single homeless people. Despite the real need for a vehicle in its' work, however, DENS hasn't had the funds for a dedicated van before and instead has had to rely on favours from volunteers. The recession has lead to greater demand for DENS services and resources and the charity could never have dreamt of affording a vehicle like this before.
Jenny Studman, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at DENS said, "Having the Citroen Relay means that we will be able to do so much more, for example, move our clients from the night shelter to temporary accommodation quickly and easily, as well as make DENS Dacorum Foodbank collections. Also, in the past we've had to decline certain donations of furniture from the public because we've simply had no means of transferring it to our client's accommodation. By having the van we will be able to take advantage of every opportunity which will obviously make life better for Dacorum's homeless and disadvantaged."
Here at Vanarama we are delighted to be able to support DENS in its work, as managing director, Andy Alderson explains, "All our staff were really keen to support a charity and wanted to help something local where we could make a real impact. DENS does such important work, getting people back on their feet after homelessness, so we opted to support them. The beefy engine and load-lugging capability of the Citroen Relay Luton is just what DENS needs to help them in their day to day work."
