First shown at the 1989 Frankfurt motor show, the BMW 850i – or E31 – followed the 750i saloon as the second post-war German car to be powered by a 12-cylinder engine. The new BMW 8 Series has made its long-awaited debut, marking a return to showrooms for BMW’s range-topping supercar after a 2-decade break.
The manufacturer has combined its racing heritage with luxury design to create the BMW 8 Series. Available as a coupé, convertible & gran coupé, they have been developed in parallel with the new BMW M8 GTE, which entered the legendary 24-hour Le Mans 2018 race. Now, for 2020, BMW has put another engine option under the hood: a turbocharged 6-cylinder. With an as-new starting price well under the 6-figure mark, the 8 Series now appeals to a wider set of buyers.
8 Series Convertible: This driver's car won't force you to sacrifice comfort. It's just as pleasing to take on an empty curvy road aggressively as it is to cruise leisurely on a weekend getaway.
8 Series Coupe: The coupe version of the 8 Series is elegant offering speed & comfort - balanced with an athletic design. Should a luxury sport coupe be sharp & driver-orientated like a Porsche 911? Or a luxurious Grand Tourer like the Mercedes S-Class Coupe? If you can't decide, the BMW 8 Series Coupe might offer the perfect solution - an elegant racer offering speed & comfort.
8 Series Gran Coupe: Mixing luxury with technology & increased space, the gran coupe is a true 4-door sports car. Boot space is properly large for a grand tourer, & the coupe isn’t far behind the Gran Coupe in this department, either.
In any of its body styles, the big 2-door Beamer rides with a smoothness & quietness that befits its prodigious price tag. Opt for the range-topping version & this BMW has the pace to take on the likes of the likes of the V8 Aston Martin DB11 & the Bentley Continental GT. When the Gran Coupe is taken into consideration, the competition opens up to Mercedes CLS, Audi RS7, Porsche Panamera & even its own BMW M5.
“Sleek & narrow headlights, athletic contours & a new double-bubble roofline give the new BMW 8 Series a rare presence that is both utterly luxurious & remarkably sporty. Discover BMW’s first-ever luxury sports car.”
