Abarth Car
Leasing

Why Lease An Abarth?

At Vanarama, you'll find unbeatable leasing deals on Abarth's full range of vehicles. Abarth has cast its performance spell over a wide range of Fiat cars in the past. But right now, all of its cars are based on the Fiat 500, which is a retro-inspired small hatchback.

Any version of the 695 or 595 is loads of fun and very usable in the confines of the city. The responsive engine and tiny size make it easy to zip into gaps and squeeze into parking bays. Leasing an Abarth offers the ability to turn even the shortest journey into an adventure.

About Abarth

You'd be forgiven for not having heard of Abarth, as it's one of the smallest manufacturers on the market. But if you're a fan of Italian style and smile-inducing performance, you'll know this make has a racing heritage stretching back to 1949.

The looks of Abarth cars might be more familiar, as it's essentially the tuning arm of Fiat. This means cute looks and leasing deals that won't sting your wallet, but lots of fun behind the wheel as well. They not only look cool, but top versions like the Abarth 695 Esseesse are also fitted with some comprehensive suspension and chassis upgrades to provide an even more intense driving experience.

Abarth's obvious rivals are the standard Fiat 500s – and if you're not bothered about sportiness and just want a cute retro runabout, then they're probably better suited to everyday use. More performance-focused alternatives include warm-to-hot hatchbacks, such as the MINI Cooper SVolkswagen Up GTI and Ford Fiesta ST.

The Range

Abarth has taken the essential ingredients of the very popular 500 and added some sporty style to the outside and supportive sports seats inside. It's also made the handling more fun and added extra power, too. That sportiness comes at the expense of ride comfort, though – you'll find an Abarth is much firmer and noisier than a regular Fiat 500.

Another drawcard of the little Abarth is the range of customisations on offer. From the duo-tone paint finishes to the numerous interior fabrics and leathers, you can personalise your car a bit more readily than most rivals aside from the MINI Cooper.

There's more than one way to reinterpret the 500, and at the time of writing, Abarth made a pretty impressive 9 different models. Each one offers a slightly different interpretation of the same flavour. While they're not always the most technically remarkable cars, they're all a giggle to drive. You can also have your Abarth as convertible models. However, the retractable canvas roof is more of a glorified sunroof than a complete folding system, as the side pillars remain in place when you retract the fabric. Still, the partially open-topped experience adds another dimension to the driving enjoyment. It makes sitting in the back feel far less claustrophobic – although no less cramped. Not all Abarths can be had as convertibles, with notable exceptions being the 595 and 695 Esseesse and the 695 Anniversario.

The 595

Seven of the Abarths are badged '595'. The standard Abarth 595 hatchback model is the least' out there' of the Abarth range, and is a relatively restrained evolution of the Fiat 500. It has beefier looks, including twin exhaust pipes at the back, making the 595 sound a bit fruitier. The 1.4-litre engine produces 145hp, which makes the 595 much faster than the 500, which has less than half the power. Despite this, it's still the most sensible Abarth you can lease.

For those more interested in pure performance, the 595 Competizione has a not inconsiderable 180hp and styling inspired by racing cars both inside and out. The 595 Esseesse has the same power, matched with an extra-raspy Akrapovic exhaust, for a more resonant experience when you hit the accelerator.

The 695

At the top of the Abarth tree are the 695 models. They're still based on the Fiat 500 but have extra features – and usually a higher price, too. 695 models include the limited edition 695 70 Anniversario, made to celebrate Abarth's 70th anniversary, with a big rear spoiler, special paint colours and a beefy body kit. The 695 Esseesse builds on the equivalent 595 model, with white alloy wheels, a rear spoiler as well as the same Akrapovic exhaust.

What About Hybrid And Electric Cars?

There are no EV or hybrid Abarths at the moment, but Fiat has released a new version of the 500c alled the 500 Electric, which, as its name suggests, is a purely electric vehicle. Rumour has it that Abarth has plans to do its own version of the 500e.

How About Performance And Luxury?

The Abarth brand is all about performance – and while all Abarths are sporty, the 180hp 695 Esseesse is the most extreme version you can lease. Luxury levels in all Abarths are higher than you get in a Fiat 500, but these are fizzy little sport cars at heart.

Future Abarth Cars

It was recently announced that the entire Abarth range will be going fully electric in 2024. Abarth models are always based on existing Fiat vehicles. While no official details are yet available, it's quite likely that the new Fiat 500e will be one of the first EVs to have some Abarth magic sprinkled on it.

Service And Maintenance

Services on all Abarth models need to be carried out every year or 9000 miles, whichever occurs first. There are several service packages available, with the Easy Care plan costing £349 for 3 years. This can be incorporated into your lease payments and covers all the servicing requirements of your vehicle for the plan's duration. You can also opt to pay monthly if you wish. Other service offerings include an Oil Care package, which allows you to choose from 1 to 5 oil and oil filter replacements, the cost of which is determined by the specific Abarth model you have.

Warranty

Abarth makes a relatively small number of cars, so it doesn't usually feature in independent reliability studies. However, Abarth models are offered with a 3-year warranty, which can be extended for a further 12 or 24 months.
