Audi e-tron GT Lease Deals

The Audi e-tron GT is basically a Porsche Taycan in a softer, more luxurious suit. Audi and Porsche are closely related companies, and the e-tron GT uses the Taycan’s brilliant chassis and impressive battery and motor technology. But it’s designed to be more of a long-distance car. The suspension is softer, the interior is less focused on driving, with more emphasis on relaxation and comfort. Is this the perfect long-distance electric car?

Top Audi e-tron GT Features

Incredible quality.

Lots of tech.

Softer than a Taycan.

  • The e-tron GT comes with 405 litres of luggage space as standard. That’s slightly more than you’d get in a Volkswagen Golf, so it’s more than enough for shopping, weekends away and any sports equipment.

Inside, the e-tron GT is roomier than you might expect, with plenty of legroom for those in the back seats. The back doors also make it easy to get in and out. However, the sweeping coupe roofline makes it a little tight on headroom. Shorter passengers and children won’t have a problem, but those who are more than 6ft tall might find it cramped.

  • This is where the Audi e-tron GT comes into its own. It might be an overgrown sports car, but it’ll cost buttons to run. Charge at home where the electricity is cheapest and you’ll find it amazingly inexpensive. If you start using public charge points, you might find costs rising, but with a range of 293-298 miles from that battery you’ll be able to make most journeys without topping up the battery. The RS e-tron GT cuts the range to 282-286 miles, but that should still be plenty.

Whichever version you choose, it’ll make a great company car. With zero tailpipe emissions – mainly because it doesn’t even have a tailpipe – the e-tron GT will incur benefit-in-kind tax at a rate of just 1% in 2021/22. That’s outrageously low for something that does 0-62mph in around 4 seconds.

Audi e-tron GT Models Available

Audi e-tron GT Coupe-Saloon 4-Door

The Audi e-tron GT comes as a 4-door coupe-saloon – just like the Porsche Taycan, rather than a ‘big hatchback’ 5-door such as the Porsche Panamera or the Tesla Model S. Nevertheless, the e-tron GT is stylish and sporty, but still relatively practical.

Audi e-tron GT High-Performance Models

If you want more performance, choose the RS version. Every e-tron GT is fast, but the RS is outrageously quick in a straight line. And it gets sportier styling.

The standard car comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic roof and LED headlights, plus heated leather seats, 3-zone climate control and a rear-view camera. The car also comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument display.

The Audi e-tron GT Vs Competitors

As an electric grand tourer, the Audi e-tron GT doesn’t have many rivals. The closest alternative is the Porsche Taycan, which the Audi shares so much with. The Porsche is the more engaging driver’s car, but the Audi is a softer and more comfortable long-distance option. You can see how they compare in detail in our e-tron GT vs Taycan article.

If you want something less German, the Tesla Model S is the nearest rival. That car is much more spacious and it has more range, but it isn’t as good to drive. Its trump card is the Supercharger charging network that offers fast and reliable battery top-ups. If you’re happy to go for petrol or hybrid power, you could also consider the Porsche Panamera, Mercedes-Benz CLS or the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, but they will have higher running costs.

  • Audi’s reliability record is very good and the e-tron GT is expected to continue that tradition. The electric powertrain sounds clever, but it’s quite simple so it shouldn’t be a problem. The in-car tech is well proven and Audi offers a decent manufacturer warranty for extra peace of mind.

  • The standard e-tron GT has 405 litres of boot space. That’s more than you get in a Volkswagen Golf or a Ford Focus, so you know it’s enough for shopping, the school run and weekends away. But there’s more space in a Tesla Model S. The RS e-tron GT has slightly less room, at 350 litres, but it’s still respectable.

  • The e-tron GT comes with a choice of power outputs, which define the trim levels available. The basic e-tron GT simply comes in ‘standard’ and Vorsprung trims, while the RS e-tron GT comes in standard, Carbon Black and Carbon Vorsprung versions.

  • Every version of the e-tron GT comes with parking sensors and a reversing camera.

  • The e-tron GT’s boot is respectable without being enormous and the same is true of the cabin space. Shorter passengers and children will find the rear seats perfectly spacious, but tall people will struggle for headroom. But if you treat it as an overgrown 2-seater, it’s incredibly roomy.

  • An ultra-modern design, classy interior and softer ride make the e-tron GT a different proposition to the Taycan. Which you prefer is a matter of taste, but there’s no arguing with the Audi’s performance and range.
