Suzuki Across Leasing

The Suzuki Across is a plug-in hybrid with a very familiar face. Essentially the Toyota RAV4’s identical twin, the Across uses Toyota’s hybrid and manufacturing know-how, but disguises it slightly with some Suzuki badges. The Across is a brilliant hybrid SUV with an excellent electric range making it a well-built and economical family leasing choice.

Roomy cabin.

  • The Suzuki Across is a very practical car, with heaps of space for passengers. Those in the front have plenty of headroom, while those in the back also get ample space to stretch out. It isn’t palatial, but you can easily seat 4 fully grown adults in comfort. Kids will have plenty of room back there. The only real catch is the lack of a 7-seat option, but that’s par for the course with a plug-in SUV.

The boot is less impressive, but the 490-litre capacity is still more than respectable. Admittedly, there’s more space in a Ford Kuga PHEV, but the Across is still more than roomy enough for your holiday luggage. You definitely won’t have trouble fitting your shopping or the kids’ school bags inside. And if you do need any extra space, fold down the rear seats to free up almost 1200 litres.

  • How much the Across costs to run will largely depend on your lifestyle. If you mostly cover short distances and can charge the batteries regularly, you will barely spend a penny on fuel. The long-range battery makes the car perfect for short commutes, school runs and popping to the shops. And if you do need to go further, the petrol engine is still there to keep you moving.

But the real appeal is for company car drivers, who benefit from the low carbon dioxide emissions. The Across emits just 22g of CO2 per kilometre, putting it in a low company-car tax band. That makes it much cheaper to run than a conventional SUV, while the long range makes it even cheaper than some of its plug-in peers.

Models Available

The ‘standard’ Across is the 5-door, 5-seat SUV. It’s a spacious, practical thing with plenty of all-electric range.

Trim Levels

With just 1 trim level available, choices are limited. But that’s no problem because the Across comes with plenty of standard equipment. A 9-inch touchscreen, leather upholstery and a digital instrument display are all included, along with climate control, a reversing camera and heated seats. You even get a heated steering wheel and front parking sensors. The only thing missing is satellite navigation.

The Suzuki Across Vs Competitors

The Across’ most obvious rival is the plug-in version of the Toyota RAV4, with which it shares so much. But there’s an ever-increasing number of alternatives joining the hunt. There are plug-in models of the Ford Kuga and the Peugeot 3008, both of which are great cars, while the funky Citroen C5 Aircross is available in hybrid form.

  • Suzukis are known for their reliability, which bodes well for the Across. Perhaps more importantly, Toyota’s reputation is even better, so the hybrid Suzuki should have very few issues. And if by some fluke you do have a problem, rest assured there’s a 3-year/60,000-mile warranty.

  • The Across’ boot measures 490 litres, which should be plenty for most customers. Shopping, holiday luggage and sports equipment will fit in with no trouble at all. If you need extra space, you can fold the back seats down to free up 1198 litres of capacity.

  • Only 1 version of the Across is available, but it comes with plenty of kit. Touchscreen infotainment, part-leather upholstery and a reversing camera are all included.

  • Yes, front and rear parking sensors are included as standard on the Across. You also get a reversing camera to make parking even easier.

  • The Across is a practical car, with a good-sized boot and plenty of interior space. Adults will fit in the back with room to spare and children will have bags of space. There are also numerous cubbies in which to store loose items. Like almost all plug-in hybrid SUVs, there’s no 7-seat option.

  • A great zero-emission range, refined powertrain and impressive build quality are key to the Across’ appeal. It’s a solid, practical family SUV with everything you need included as standard. And it’s a little bit less conventional than the RAV4.
