Why Lease A Toyota Prius?
What’s The Cabin Like?
How Does It Drive?
The Prius is one of the most spacious vehicles in its class. It can comfortably fit up to 5 adults and the rear hatch opens up to reveal a deep boot that’s easy to load. The 502 litres on offer eclipses both the Hyundai Ioniq and the Kia Niro. And with the rear seats folded down, you’ll have to look at midsized SUVs before matching the impressive 1633 litres of luggage space.
There’s also plenty of space elsewhere around the cabin, with 4 cupholders as standard – 2 up front and 2 in the rear armrest – and front door pockets big enough for water bottles and other items. Upper trims get a handy wireless phone charger, too. Passengers in the rear will appreciate the lack of a hump in the footwell but the raked rear windscreen may have taller adults brushing their heads against the roof lining.
This is where the Prius shines – offering in excess of 67mpg in mixed driving. This not only betters conventional petrol cars but beats most diesels too. Sticking to the smaller diameter wheels keeps consumption figures low and the 22% benefit-in-kind (BIK) tax figures are lower than conventionally powered cars as well. The all-wheel-drive model is the least efficient, yet still manages 58.8mpg. The plug-in hybrid does up to 235.4mpg. However, this figure will vary greatly based on how much you take advantage of the 25 miles of all-electric range. The 14% BIK tax for this model is also slightly lower than on the standard Prius but this version does generally cost more to lease.

The Toyota Prius Vs Competitors
The Prius is known for being a very reliable vehicle. Decades of use have shown the mechanicals and battery pack to give very little trouble. You get a standard 5-year/100,000-mile warranty and every Toyota hybrid comes with a 15-year battery extended cover if you have an annual hybrid electric service.
The Toyota Prius has a 502-litre boot, which is more than any of its direct hybrid rivals. This expands to 1633 litres with the seats down, once again eclipsing the Hyundai Ioniq, Kia Niro and Toyota Corolla. That latter figure is comparable to a midsized SUV like the BMW X3.
There are 7 trims in total. They are essentially split into the entry level Active, mid-range Business Edition and top Excel trims. Each trim can be optioned with the standard 15-inch wheels to maximise fuel economy.
Yes, all Prius models have a reversing camera and rear parking sensors as standard. Higher trims get a panoramic view monitor, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring systems.
The Toyota Prius offers one of the more spacious cabins in its class. Boot space is also above average, and there are plenty of storage bins and compartments for phones, wallets and bags.
The Prius has become a hybrid leasing favourite thanks to its rock-solid reliability, great interior space and superb real-world economy figures.
