Vauxhall Combo Life Top Features

Spacious inside.

Easy to drive.

Cheap to run.

  • As you’d expect, there’s bags of room inside the Combo Life. It’s available in both a standard size and a long-wheelbase XL version.

Even the regular version offers a cavernous 597 litres of boot space in 5-seat form – that gives it similar carrying capacity to a large SUV, but with more cabin storage and more room for passengers. Admittedly, the 3rd row of seats does eat into this considerably, so if you plan on transporting 6 or 7 people on a regular basis we’d definitely recommend the Combo Life XL.

Folding the middle and 3rd rows of seats down in the Combo Life XL makes the most of the car’s van-like shape to offer a colossal 2,693 litres of load space. It’s also a very wide, flat loading space with no lip for the tailgate and no lumps for the wheel arches to worry about. Handy if you need to carry an antique wardrobe.

Access to the rear seats and the luggage compartment is brilliant thanks to the sliding doors. Plus, there are plenty of spaces to put things. Depending on the spec there are up to 28 different storage compartments, although some of these are optional – such as the airline-style overhead storage lockers. All together, it’s quite simply one of the most practical cars on the road.

  • For such a big car, the Combo Life offers impressive fuel economy. Like-for-like, the larger XL models consume slightly more fuel, but even the thirstiest – the 130hp petrol auto – manages a respectable 40.4mpg.

For those who cover longer distances, the diesel models are a good choice. The most efficient option is the 5-seat Combo Life diesel, which returns up to 55.4mpg, according to its official figures. Meanwhile, the electric Combo-E Life promises a range of up to 174 miles on a single charge.

Vauxhall Combo Life Lease Models Available

You can opt for the standard Vauxhall Combo Life or a Combo Life XL lease. Both models follow the same van-like template, with sliding rear doors and a full-height rear hatch.

Vauxhall Combo Life Trim Levels

Edition SE EliteAll models come with a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, DAB radio and air conditioning. Higher-spec models can be had with features such as adaptive cruise control, intelligent park assist and a head-up display, but be aware that some of these are additional options.

The Vauxhall Combo Life Vs Competitors

The Combo Life was developed in parallel with the Vauxhall Combo van, and it does less to disguise those origins than the Peugeot Rifter and Citroen Berlingo, which are based around the same design. All 3 are broadly similar in comfort, load capacity and performance. However, nothing can match the sheer amount of space available in the Combo Life.If you’re willing to compromise slightly on practicality, then a family SUV might also be worth considering. The Skoda Octavia boasts even more boot space and a 7-seat option, as does the sharply-styled Peugeot 5008.
  • There are 3 main trim levels available – Edition, SE and Elite. But be aware that there are also several option packs that are additional to those.

  • The Combo Life has a very large boot. Opting for the 7-seat version will eat into this somewhat – particularly on the standard-wheelbase model – but in 5-seat form it offers an impressive 597 litres of boot space, rising to 850 litres in XL spec.

  • Yes. All models come with rear parking sensors as standard, while SE and Elite models also get a panoramic reversing camera.

  • This is where the Combo Life plays its ace. No other car has quite such a selection of storage compartments, cubby holes and lockers. Plus, its fundamental layout – with a large boot, twin sliding doors and a 7-seat option – makes the Combo Life supremely practical.

  • If you’re looking to lease a sensible, practical family car, you’d do well to consider the Combo Life. It’s one of the most spacious people carriers on the market and it represents great value for money.
