Peugeot e-Rifter Leasing Deals

The Peugeot e-Rifter is a great example of the van-based MPV to lease, which adds windows to a boxy commercial vehicle body to create a car that maximises space for anyone needing to carry five people and their kit. As the name suggests, it’s fully electric, too.

Peugeot e-Rifter Top Features

Loads of space.

Zero emissions.

Very un-van-like to drive.

  • The Peugeot E-Rifter’s main strength is its practicality, with up to 3,500 litres of space on offer with all the seats (including the front passenger item) folded. Access to the back row is easy, thanks to the sliding side doors. This means they’re easy to open in tight spaces and fitting child seats inside is a breeze. If you’re doing that, then there are three sets of Isofix child seat mounts across the back row.

As well as a 3,500-litre maximum, the e-Rifter offers 775 litres of space in 5-seat mode, which is about as much as you’ll be able to fit in a hatchback with all of the back seats folded. This means the e-Rifter is ideal for anybody that needs to carry passengers and luggage. One neat feature in GT cars is that the rear glass can be opened independently of the tailgate, which boosts access in tight spots.

The cabin storage is excellent. The glovebox on the passenger side is deep enough to fit a small laptop, there’s a shallow tray beneath it, and more storage under both front seats. There’s another tray under the main touchscreen, while the centre console between the seats features a big storage bin with a sliding cover. Cupholders feature at either end of the dashboard, plus there are big door bins. The front seat-backs have flip-up tray tables for rear occupants to use, as well as air vents and a USB charging socket.

  • Where the Peugeot e-Rifter comes into its own is for everyday running costs. There’s a range of up to 172 miles on offer – it will be cheaper to recharge the battery than it will be to fill a diesel model to cover the same distance.

The e-Rifter can be charged in 7.5 hours from a home wall box, while Peugeot offers faster charging that can reduce this time to five hours using a stronger home charger. Use a public DC rapid charger and it can take as little as half an hour to charge the battery from 0-80% capacity.

Peugeot e-Rifter Models Available

The sole body style for the Peugeot E-Rifter is a 5-door, 5-seat van-based MPV. The ‘E-’ prefix means that it’s only available with an electric drive.

Rifter Trim Levels

Trim Levels Available: Allure, GTAll models of the Peugeot E-Rifter come as standard with air conditioning, 2 USB sockets (1 front, 1 rear), rear air vents, an electric parking brake, rear parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, a height-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a folding passenger seat, front seat storage, tray tables on the backs of the front seats and 3 independently folding rear seats. Both versions get an 8-inch touchscreen with voice control via the multifunction steering wheel, Bluetooth phone connectivity, DAB radio, and smartphone connectivity.

The Peugeot E-Rifter Vs Competitors

The main rivals for the Peugeot E-Rifter are the Citroen E-Berlingo and Vauxhall Combo-E Life. These are all but identical to the E-Rifter because they use the same basic body and electric drive system. The main difference between the Peugeot and the others is that the Citroen and Vauxhall models can have 7 seats and a longer body that offers even more space. These two models also have a different dashboard layout that puts the dials behind the steering wheel, rather than above it.No other manufacturers build small, electric van-based MPVs just yet, so your other options are diesel-powered. These include the Volkswagen Caddy Life and the Ford Tourneo Connect, the latest version of which shares tech with the VW Caddy. Finally, the VW ID.Buzz electric MPV will offer a lot more style than any of the current competitors in the class, and probably a longer EV range than the E-Rifter, but it will be more expensive too.
  • The electric drive system is used in a number of other Peugeot, Citroen, and Vauxhall models, and since it has fewer moving parts than an engine, it means less can go wrong. For peace of mind, Peugeot covers the main battery with a warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles, in addition to the standard 3-year warranty.

  • The Peugeot E-Rifter has 775 litres of space in the 5-seat mode under the parcel shelf, or 3,000 litres in the 2-seat mode (to the roof). Fold the front passenger seat and that creates 3,500 litres of space.

  • There are just two trim levels on offer, Allure and GT. The latter features alloy wheels and more upmarket interior trim than Allure, including a dark-brown dashboard finish.

  • Rear parking sensors are standard across the range, while the GT adds a 180-degree rear-view camera, too.

  • Diesel versions of the Rifter were dropped at the start of 2022 because Peugeot needed to bring down the overall emissions of its entire range of new cars. Making the e-Rifter the only model, with no petrol or diesel alternatives, was deemed an easy way to do this.
