An easy, efficient and enjoyable electric car to drive.
A maximum all-electric range of more than 300 miles.
An impressive regenerative braking system.
Why Lease A Volkswagen ID.3?
Driving The Volkswagen ID.3
Packed With Technology And Equipment
With a wide choice of motors and battery capacities, according to official economy tests, the ID.3 is good for between 217 and 336 miles of range on a single charge. Pre-configured combinations of batteries and motors make up the ID.3 range, but not all pairings are available on all trims. Don’t forget that electric driving ranges will vary with driving style, traffic and weather conditions.
As the ID.3 is an electric car, there are no annual road tax charges to pay. A zero-emission vehicle, the ID.3 is also exempt from charges when entering certain low emission and congestion zones. Low company car tax is another benefit.

The ID.3 is an electric 5-door family hatchback, similar in size to a Volkswagen Golf. The ID.4 is a 5-seat electric SUV, with a larger boot than the ID.3. The top of the range is the ID.5, with similar capabilities to the ID.4 but with a focus on style and a more luxurious interior.
Connected to a 7kW home wall box, smaller battery ID.3s can be charged from 0-100% in 7 hours and 30 minutes. The longest time any ID.3 takes to refill on an 11kW public charge point is the same, but if you connect the car to a 100kW rapid charger, a 5-80% battery top-up takes between just 31 and 38 minutes.
There’s lots of room up front, and even though the ID.3 is similar in size to the latest Golf, its longer wheelbase means rear-seat passengers have VW Passat levels of space to stretch out. Interior storage is good, with various door pockets and covered compartments.
The Volkswagen ID.3 has 385 litres of luggage space with the rear seats in place. This increases to 1267 litres of room with them folded. That’s more than the Nissan Leaf and smaller cars such as the Renault Zoe, but less than an MG5 EV or Tesla Model 3. The ID.3 is also comparable with the Volkswagen Golf for the amount of cargo it can carry.

The Volkswagen ID.3 is an excellent car to lease if you’re after a family-sized electric car. It has striking style, plenty of space, and is enjoyable to drive. It’s a solid option for long and short trips, with a minimum electric range of greater than 200 miles.
Its most obvious rival in size is the Nissan Leaf and while its electric range overlaps lesser ID.3s, the Nissan can’t hold a candle to pricier versions of the VW. The larger Tesla Model 3 is another contender to consider, but its price is at the higher end of the ID.3 spectrum. And don’t forget, there are also plug-in hybrid versions of the Volkswagen Golf, too.
The ID.3 is agile and fun to drive. The standard regenerative braking setting is impressive, but select the harsher ‘B’ mode and you can really ‘one-pedal’ drive the car, bringing it to a full stop at junctions.
It’s smooth when cruising, with virtually no wind noise at all. And while the suspension is on the firm side, it remains a comfortable ride.
The ID.3 introduces a new style of VW interior, packed with technology and equipment. Mounted in the centre of the dashboard is a 10-inch colour touchscreen angled towards the driver, with sliding controls for the heating and volume on a ledge underneath.
Ahead of the driver, a full colour 5.3-inch display moves with the steering wheel and features the gear selector, similar to the BMW i3. A storage container takes the place of a transmission tunnel, and an ‘ID Light’ spans the width of the windscreen, visually communicating with the ID.3’s passengers. Despite being packed with features the ID.3 has more than enough space for 4 adults, and 5 for shorter distances to ride in comfort.
Leasing an ID.3 is an affordable way to drive off with a brand new car. It’s essentially a rental, that means you choose the car you want and tailor your contract to suit you – including annual mileage.
As you don’t own the car, you can spread the cost with fixed monthly payments, and enjoy a new car with all the latest tech. And when the contract is up, you simply return the car and you can upgrade if you wish. Plus, you don’t have to worry about any depreciation costs or paying a balloon payment. The entry level ID.3 City has a range of around 215 miles, and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic wipers, a central airbag, climate control, heated seats and steering wheel, keyless entry, voice control, and a 10-inch navigation touchscreen system. Outside, the new electric Volkswagen is stylish with all-round LED lighting and a black roof and tailgate.
ID.3 Style offers around the same range, which adds design-led additions. The Life, Business, Family, Tech and Max do around 260 miles on a charge with varying levels of power and option packs, while the Tour’s 336 miles make it the longest-range ID.3
