Volkswagen T-Cross Lease Deals

The small-car market is as much about SUVs these days as it is superminis. Small hatchbacks such as the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa are still popular, but there’s now a real trend towards crossover SUVs that have similar dimensions and taller bodies to pack in more practicality – making them great for nipping around town. The T-Cross is one of these cars. Based on the Volkswagen Polo, the T-Cross uses all that car’s technology to create a great-driving, fashionable and useful small SUV. Take a look through our full range of Volkswagen car leasing deals today.

Volkswagen T-Cross Top Features

Image

Enjoyable to drive.

Image

Zesty and frugal engines.

Image

More practical than most small SUVs.

  • Practicality is an important watchword when it comes to SUVs. Even small ones. But the T-Cross fits that definition perfectly. There’s lots of room in both the front and the back, with enough space for those blessed with height. The slightly larger Volkswagen T-Roc SUV is slightly wider and therefore offers more space inside, but the T-Cross is still more than spacious enough.

It also has more boot space than the T-Roc, as it does the VW Golf. The T-Cross boot is a large 455 litres, which is also bigger than that of the SEAT Arona and the Skoda Kamiq. A key feature is the sliding rear bench, which moves forward to cram in more stuff, and the seats also fold in a 60/40 split for added practicality.

  • Its dinky size and relatively light weight – for an SUV – does the T-Cross a favour when it comes to fuel economy. Although there are no diesel or hybrid options, the turbocharged petrol engines achieve a healthy blend of performance and economy.

T-Cross models fitted with a 1.0-litre engine are officially rated at up to 49.6mpg. Even the 1.5-litre engines squeeze up to 47.9mpg, as they can switch off 2 of their 4 cylinders under light engine loads.

The Volkswagen T-Cross Vs Competitors

The T-Cross’ closest rivals are the SEAT Arona and the Skoda Kamiq. These cars share the T-Cross’ underpinnings as well as its engines. They are also of a similar size. The T-Cross beats them both on luggage space though, making it the most practical of the trio.

The newer Ford Puma uses hybrid technology to get the best economy from its range of petrol engines. Like the T-Cross, there is no diesel option. Staying with economy, the Renault Captur is available as a plug-in hybrid.

The T-Cross isn’t available to lease as a hybrid or full electric model if you want to keep costs down, but plenty of compact SUVs are. The all-electric DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, Hyundai Kona Electric, Peugeot E-2008, and Vauxhall Mokka-E will do around 200 miles or more.

  • Yes. The T-Cross scored a full 5 stars in independent Euro NCAP safety tests, performing particularly well for adult and child occupant safety. Onboard safety technology was also rated highly, all T-Cross models fitted with lane keeping assistance and front distance monitoring systems.

  • In comparison to a small car such as the Ford Fiesta, the T-Cross’ boot is relatively large. At 455 litres with the rear seats in place, it’s more than 100 litres bigger than that of the Volkswagen Polo and even trumps that of the Volkswagen Golf.

  • A wide range of lease deals are available for the Volkswagen T-Cross. There are 6 core trim specs – S, SE, Active, Black Edition, SEL and R-Line. The most eye-catching versions of the T-Cross are the Black Edition and the R-Line.

  • No. Parking sensors are standard on T-Cross Active, Black Edition, SEL and R-Line models, and optional on the SE. They are optional on S models as part of the extra-cost parking pack, which also includes electrically heated and foldable door mirrors.

  • The Volkswagen T-Cross does have features that make it stand out, such as a variable height boot floor. There’s also lots of cabin storage, as well as a drawer under the driver’s seat. The rear bench seat also slides forward to increase boot space.

  • The joy of small SUVs is that they offer increased practicality and a higher driving position than the small cars on which they are based. The T-Cross is no different. It’s not that much longer than the Volkswagen Polo, meaning it’s perfect for nipping about town. Its higher seating position also makes some drivers feel safer.
