Why Choose A VW Tiguan Lease?
Benefits Of A Volkswagen TiguanVolkswagen positions the Tiguan as a premium product, which means the list price is higher than many of its rivals, but a desirable package and impressive resale values keep monthly lease costs right down. That allows drivers to pick up a stylish SUV that might normally be out of their range and could cost less than its more mainstream rivals.Commit to the Tiguan and you’ll have one of the finest SUVs on the road that works perfectly for families. There’s acres of space in the back, high levels of standard equipment, a range of engines, and even some with sporty style. Check out our review of the Tiguan R trim for more on the performance primed version.
What’s Tiguan Cabin Like?
How Does It Drive?
There are few SUVs of this size that offer quite so much practicality. The boot is huge, with 560 litres of capacity under the parcel shelf. That’s 45 litres more than you’ll get in a Ford Kuga. However, you can extend the boot by sliding the rear seats forward, which increases the room to 615 litres.
The rear seats split and fold in 3 sections, making it easy to load in awkwardly shaped items into the back, while unusually long items can slide in and above the front passenger seat, which folds flat on all but the entry-level model.
Storage space dotted around the cabin is equally impressive, with a chilled glovebox keeping drinks and chocolate refreshingly cool. Cupholders, cubby holes and sizeable door pockets allow for plenty of options for hiding away your bits and pieces.
A high list price shouldn’t put you off a Tiguan, as lease deals bring the monthly figures right back down, often to lower rates than its obvious rivals. You can also do well on fuel if you choose your model wisely, as diesel models can return up to 53.3mpg according to official test figures. Real-world results won’t be quite so good, but it’s possible to get the onboard computer recording surprisingly useful economy results.
The 1.5 TSI-powered models will manage around 40mpg, but start looking at more potent engines and 4-wheel drive, and you might struggle to hit 30mpg.
VW Tiguan Models Available
TiguanHeld up as a standard for affordable SUVs, the Tiguan is conventional but blends that with quality build and design.
Tiguan AllspaceJust like a Tiguan, but a little bit bigger. The Allspace adds an extra row of seats in the rear, making it into a 7-seater, although you’ll not want to spend long squeezed into the back.
Tiguan RThe Tiguan R takes the conservative SUV, bolts on a bigger turbo and boosts power to 320hp. The sub-5-second sprint to 62mph will embarrass many a hot hatch.
The Volkswagen Tiguan Vs Competitors
Volkswagen has a mighty reputation for reliability, and the Tiguan shouldn’t give you many reliability problems.
As stated, between 520-1655 litres of storage space is on offer in the Volkswagen Tiguan and that means that, ultimately, it is almost as capacious in the back as the much larger Volvo XC90.
You’ll have to do without them on the entry-level Tiguan, but the Life trim level and all those above have both front and rear sensors. Upgrading to an R-Line model equips an automatic self-parking system, while Elegance and R add a reversing camera to the mix.
With 13 years of experience and development, Volkswagen has got the Tiguan formula sorted. It’s a hugely practical proposition but the company adds some premium panache to the SUV, as well as comfort, performance and economy. It’s not quite a jack of all trades but covers most bases very well indeed.
