At Vanarama we are proud to work with local small businesses and suppliers, therefore it's only natural we're keen to keep it local when we support a charity too. So we are delighted to tell you that patients and carers of The Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted can now get to appointments more easily, thanks to our donation of a Ford Galaxy to the hospice. As well as offering a pick-up service to patients without a vehicle of their own,the Galaxy will be used by the Community Nursing team, who make more than 2600 visits to patients in their own homes each year.
The staff here at Vanarama were keen to demonstrate support for a local charity. Some of our employees have had personal experience of the expert care and support The Hospice of St Francis has given their own family members and were keen to 'give something back'. By providing it with the vehicle we can help its hardworking staff to make a tangible difference to patient care straight away.
Before handing over the keys to the new Galaxy,we arranged for it to be sign-written with the distinctive purple and green tree of hearts Hospice of St Francis logo. We know this will help raise awareness of the hospice's good work still further as it is driven around the local community.
Hospice Director,Ros Taylor said,"We're so grateful to Vanarama. The car will be a real asset to the medical team. The Community nurses will get a lot of use from it as they are always out and about visiting patients. It's also big enough to collect patients and carers who need to come to appointments here,be they medical appointments, workshops or complimentary therapy at our outpatient facility,The Spring Centre."
The Hospice of St Francis cares for people living with a diagnosis of a life-shortening illness in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire either in its 14 bed Inpatient Unit,at home or in its health and wellbeing Spring Centre. All the care provided by the Hospice to patients is given free, but the Hospice needs to raise £4.7 million annually to fund its care. If you are keen to join us is supporting the vital work of the Hospice and want to find out more then please visit www.stfrancis.org.uk where you can also make an online donation.
