Eight members of Vanarama staff ditched four wheels in favour of two and raised over £1,500 for the British Heart Foundation. They were among the 27,000 cyclists who saddled up for the British Heart Foundation to ride from London to Brighton on 19 June to raise funds to fight against heart disease.
Taking on the Green Monster
Team Vanarama, headed up by Brand Director, Steve Mark, had been training together in the local Chiltern Hills for weeks and said: "It was a tough course, so we had to put the miles in during training. I'm glad we did – especially when we were faced with Ditchling Beacon, aka 'The Green Monster' close to the finish. It nearly defeated us!"
It took eight hours for Team Vanarama to complete the 54 mile course. "Once we were over the Beacon, the ride down into Brighton and along the front was amazing. It was such a great atmosphere and the fact that we raised such a lot of money for the British Heart Foundation makes suffering from a sore backside worthwhile!" said Steve.
Further challenges ahead for Team Vanarama
The team are now talking about doing the Palace to Palace ride from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle next year. Well done Team Vanarama!
