If you are umming and ahhing over which van to choose, you can do no worse than seeing what the 'big boys' choose and Autoglass, the well-known vehicle glass repair and replacement company, is refreshing its 1,250-strong Transit van fleet with the 90 Transit Customs.
No surprise really as the Transit is so popular it accounts for almost one in five of all new vans sold in the UK and has become the level by which other vans are judged. The new Transit Custom has been enjoying rave reviews in the trade press too.
Easily accessorised, each of the new Autoglass Transit Customs is equipped with racking to carry the firm's stock-in-trade as well as an electrical conversion unit to provide 240V power for tools and equipment.
The Custom offers the option of short and long-wheelbase models, the former of which has an overall length of 4.97 metres and the latter 5.34 metres. Given the increasing trend for larger windscreens with greater curvature in modern cars, Autoglass has had to increase the size of its staple work vehicle to enable its mobile technicians to carry larger vehicle glass.
The vehicles chosen were the 290 long wheelbase Ford Transit Customs which will supplement Autoglass Fleet which has seen the Transit as its mainstay for over 40 years.
