- Running Costs:
- Value for Money:
In the Peugeot Expert L1, Peugeot have taken the design from its predecessor and tweaked it to make it more practical and more useful to the commercial van market. Happily, it still retains to a high degree the car - like drivability of its predecessor. This enables a good combination of driving experience and payload capacity.
The payload has increased to 988kg from its predecessors 800kg, and to move it around the Peugeot Expert utilises 180Nm at 1750rpm. The low rev and impressive shifting power all contributes to a fuel consumption of 39.2mpg. The 1.6 HDi diesel engine gives the driver 90bhp to work with, and thanks to the vehicles inherited car - like design, it is very easy to pilot around city streets.
The load length on the Peugeot Expert comes in at 2260mm, and a width of 1602mm narrowing to 1250mm between the wheel arches. 5m3 volume space is available in the back, and 570mm loading height makes getting the load into the van a lot easier than much of the competition. The rear doors open a full 180 degrees and two side door loading options are available too.
As standard the array of features are quite luxury when compared to other panel vans. The Peugeot Expert is fitted with ABS and EBA braking systems, together with 3 point pretensioner seat belts which are height adjustable and a drivers airbag. Some other nice touches are automatic door locking should the vehicle travel over 4 miles per hour, electric mirrors and windows, air conditioning, and an adjustable driver's seat. The CD stereo can be controllable from the steering column.
The cab itself is basic but functional with plenty of storage options together with the afore mentioned features.
The Peugeot Expert also offers a pleasant drive not least due to the features that provide control and comfort. The turning circle kerb to kerb is respectable and the steering itself is a nice blend of stability and lightness which all good panel vans opt for. Shifting through the five speed gear box is easy, so making the most of the torque and brake horse power will give no problems for drivers. The steering column like the seating is fully adjustable.
Peugeot have looked at the Peugeot Experts predecessor and addressed the issues that may have put people off the van. To that end they have done an excellent job and now the Peugeot Expert is well equipped to take on the competition.
