Why Lease the Ford Puma?
The Ford Puma is a sport compact coupe produced by Ford Europe from September 1997 to July 2002. The Fiesta-based coupe broadened Ford’s range of impressive drivers’ cars and made all of its compact coupe rivals feel just a bit, how shall we put it, under-developed. In an era where small, inexpensive cars have grown in size and adopted sensible 3-cylinder engines, the 2020 Ford Puma’s compact footprint and its petrol-hybrid engine party trick make it even more appealing.
The new Puma has been reborn as a small SUV, sitting above the brand’s EcoSport and below the Ford Kuga. It’s based on the Fiesta but sits 30mm higher and is longer, taller, wider, and has a longer distance between the front and rear wheels. The Puma prides itself on being fun to drive without sacrificing practicality. While adults might feel a tad cramped in the rear, there’s plenty of space for children and the boot is well thought through.
Its closest rivals are the big-selling Renault Captur, Nissan Juke, Skoda Kamiq and Volkswagen T-Roc, but unlike those cars, the Puma has mild-hybrid engine technology that you’d usually expect to find in much more expensive cars, allowing it to combine nippy acceleration with fuel economy to boot.
