Since its introduction in 2013, the F-Type has made a name for itself as a hairy-chested 911 rival. A car that blends sports car handling with a more laid back GT car demeanour. The 2021 F-type receives a significant makeover that includes an edgier new look and numerous other enhancements.
F-Type Convertible: If you're in the market for a luxury sports convertible, the choices are somewhat limited. The 2020 Jaguar F-Type Convertible is 6 years into its life cycle and is showing its age against newer rivals. Even so, it remains a strong alternative. Its inherent desirability is proven by the fact that 75% of F-Type convertible customers are new to the Jaguar brand.
F-Type Coupe: Jaguar describes this improved F-Type coupe as the most capable and involving car it's ever built. This fixed-top version cements the Coventry brand's reputation as a credible rival to Porsche, reviving memories of some of the company's legendary classic coupes. The coupe takes all that is great about the convertible version and builds on it with a stiffer chassis and a more affordable asking price. The result is a very special car indeed, especially in this improved form.
Compared to the top luxury sports coupes and convertibles, the F-Type can be considered a relative bargain in lower trims and competitively priced on the high end. Overall, however, it trails behind rivals that include the performance-biased Porsche 911 and the more luxurious BMW 8 Series and Mercedes-AMG GT, which deliver better overall performance and are more rewarding to drive. As much as we like the 2020 Jaguar F-Type, it's held back by its somewhat compromised comfort and fiddly infotainment system. Despite these shortcomings, the F-Type remains an enticing luxury sports car.
“The new F-Type is the definitive Jaguar sports car and continues to set the benchmark for design purity, driver engagement and reward, and a truly visceral driving experience – it makes every journey extraordinary.”
