Mercedes-Benz G-Class Lease Deals

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class started life as a military vehicle. But like the Land Rover Defender and the Hummer, over time it became a luxury 4x4. Today, this enormous SUV is the last word in luxury toughness.

It’s hugely capable off-road, but it still has the plush, comfortable cabin you expect from a Mercedes. And there’s nothing you can lease that has this much presence on the road.

Imposing image.

  • As you’d expect from such a big car, there’s plenty of room inside. Headroom is good in the front and rear, and you get lots of rear legroom. You can’t choose a 7-seat version, but you do get lots of cubby holes and storage bins. There’s more than enough space to hide your phone, wallet and keys.

There’s also a generous boot. With the rear seats up, the G-Class has 621 litres of luggage space, although that grows to 667 litres if you move the rear seats into their more upright ‘cargo’ position. Fold them down and you’ll get 1941 litres of space if you fill the car to the roof. You won’t have any problem fitting your holiday luggage, golf equipment or weekly shop in the back of this.

  • With such a big car and so much power, the G-Class naturally drinks fuel. The diesel is the least thirsty option, but everything is relative. Choose the 400d and you might match the 26.5mpg it achieved on the official economy test. If you choose the G63, that figure falls to 17.3mpg.

When it comes to CO2 emissions, the story remains the same. The 400d emits 281g of carbon dioxide for every kilometre it travels, which makes it the least polluting option. The V8-powered G63 emits 373g/km. It’s no surprise that both fall into the top 37% company-car tax bracket.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class Trim Levels

Edition AMG Line AMG Line Premium Plus G63 G63 Magno Edition

The G-Class comes with plenty of standard equipment. Even the entry-level Edition gets 19-inch alloys, wood trim and leather upholstery. Satellite navigation is also thrown in, along with a digital instrument cluster, 3-zone climate control, and heated front and rear seats. You even get the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration tech as standard.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Vs Competitors

Rugged, luxury SUVs are few and far between, but the G-Class does have some direct competitors. The Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender are the most natural alternatives, although they don’t quite match the Mercedes’ plush cabin.

Other options include the Range Rover, which is hugely capable despite being the choice of rappers and footballers, or the BMW X7, which is every inch the luxury car but less of an off-road weapon.

It’s also worth looking elsewhere in the Mercedes-Benz range. The ultra-plush GLS provides a more asphalt-orientated take on the SUV, without losing too much off-road ability.

  • Mercedes-Benz has a great reputation for reliability and the G-Class is no exception. It’s tough and rugged, and the components are mostly well proven in other Mercedes models. You’re unlikely to have any issues, but there’s a warranty to fall back on if needs be.

  • The G-Class has a 621-litre boot, but that expands to 667 litres if the back seats are in the ‘cargo’ position. Fold the rear seats down altogether, fill the car to the rafters and you’ll get 1941 litres of stuff in there.

  • You get a choice of 5 trim levels when you lease a G-Class. The entry-level Edition comes with loads of luxury kit, but the AMG Line and AMG Line Premium Plus versions add a sporty touch and more equipment. The G63 is the performance option and it’s available as a Magno Edition with extra presence.

  • Yes, every version of the G-Class comes with front and rear parking sensors, plus a 360-degree manoeuvring camera. That gives you a bird’s-eye view of the car and its surroundings.

  • The G-Class is a very practical car with bags of interior space. The cabin can easily carry 4 adults, while the massive boot can take all their luggage. The only potential issue is the lack of a 7-seat option, which leaves the G-Class limited to 5 occupants.

  • Imposing looks and a high-luxury cabin have made the G-Class an icon. But there’s more to it than just bling. This is a car with serious off-road ability, which is now matched by drastically improved road manners.
