Why Lease A Porsche Taycan?
What’s The Cabin Like?
How Does It Drive?
Because electric motors often take up less space than engines, Porsche has made the Taycan quite practical. Despite the low roof and the supercar image, the Taycan has a 407-litre boot at the back and a secondary 84-litre storage compartment at the front of the car. That’s more than enough for a weekend away, even if you’re carrying charging cables with you as you go.
If you really need more space, you can have the Cross Turismo model with its marginally roomier rear end. It has the same 84-litre front compartment, but the boot grows to 446 litres. And if you need even more room, you can pop the back seats down to free up 1212 litres.
In the main cabin, there’s plenty of room for those in the front, but passengers in the rear seats have a little less wiggle room. Even so, you can carry 4 people in relative comfort. If you want to wedge a fifth person in between the 2 rear seats, you’ll need to select the ‘4+1’ seating option. That gives you an occasional 3rd seat in the back row, but it isn’t very big.
The Taycan was designed as an electric car from the start and that’s your only option for propulsion. But the version you choose will dictate how much range you get. The basic car comes with a choice of 79.2kWh Performance and 93.4kWh Performance Plus battery packs, with ranges of 220-268 and 253-301 miles respectively.
However, upgrading to the 4S model cuts that range to 242-288 miles if you choose the bigger battery. Turbo models are only available with the bigger battery, but their powerful motors cut the Taycan’s range to between 238 and 281 miles. And the range-topping Turbo S slashes it to between 242 and 258 miles.
Leasing a Taycan Cross Turismo estate won’t increase the time you spend charging, though. Across the range, the big-booted estate versions offer broadly similar range to their coupe-bodied counterparts. And some are more efficient by certain measures.
TaycanA 4-door coupe with sporty looks, the Taycan is a kind of cross between a Panamera and a 911. Except it’s electric.
Taycan Cross TurismoThe Taycan estate is slightly taller, with an off-road vibe, and it also offers more interior space.
The Porsche Taycan Vs Competitors
Electric cars are generally quite reliable and Porsches are even more reliable. So putting the 2 together should be a recipe for dependability and peace of mind. If the sort of build quality we see in the cabin has been carried on under the skin, there won’t be anything to worry about.
Due to its compact electric powertrain, the Taycan has 2 boots. There’s a big 407-litre compartment at the back and a smaller one up front, with 84 litres of space. That’s much the same as you’ll get in an Audi E-Tron GT, but it’s far less than you’ll find in a Tesla Model S. If space is an issue, consider the Cross Turismo with its 446-litre luggage bay. That swells to 1212 litres if you fold the rear seats flat.
If you want to lease a Porsche Taycan, you’ll get a bewildering array of versions to choose from. The basic Taycan has most things you need, but the 4 and 4S models each get more power and equipment. The top-of-the-range Turbo and Turbo S versions are even more stacked with kit.
Yes, front and rear parking sensors are standard across the Taycan range. If you choose to lease a Taycan and you’re happy to splash out on optional extras, you can also have a reversing camera to help you see where you’re going.
Overall boot space is good, but passenger space is a bit tight in the back of the Taycan. Those in the front seats will be perfectly comfortable, but taller rear-seat passengers might feel slightly cramped. You get 4 seats as standard, although you can specify an occasional 5th seat as an option.
Glorious driving dynamics, incredible performance and Porsche quality have all made the Taycan such a popular lease car. Good range and a big boot also help the car’s cause, while many customers appreciate the Taycan’s instantly recognisable shape. This is the complete electric sports car and it’s the yardstick by which all others will be measured.
