High-performance Audi RS models have built up quite a reputation over the years – for offering a neat mix of serious speed and power, combined with everyday comfort and usability.
The RS5 is one of the most desirable in the line-up, coming as it does in either sporty 2-door Coupe or practical 5-door Sportback form. That increase in power comes at a cost – leasing an RS5 inevitably costs more than leasing a standard Audi A5 – but with engine performance and handling on another planet, many will be happy to pay the difference.
The fastest and most powerful Audi A5 you can buy.
Available in both 2-door Coupe and 5-door Sportback form.
2.9-litre V6 petrol engine gives it a huge power output of 450hp
Why Lease An Audi RS5?
High Quality Fit And Finish
An Exceptionally Fast Drive
When leasing an Audi RS5, practicality very much depends on what model you go for. The Coupe has a 450-litre boot and small back seats that are only really suitable for children – particularly on longer journeys.
Whereas the Sportback, being a large 5-door hatchback, is far more versatile, with plenty of room for 4 adults plus some luggage.
The Sportback’s boot holds 465 litres with the rear seats in place, or 1280 when folded down. The Coupe will be more than sufficient for a child-free couple.
This most recent RS5 version is more efficient than previous models, but at 30mpg, you’re likely to spend more time at the pump. Insurance and road tax will be more expensive, too, but not unexpected for a premium, high-performance car like the RS5.

The Audi RS5 Vs Competitors
The Audi RS5 competes directly with rivals from the 2 other well-known premium German brands – the BMW M4 Coupe and the Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe. Both are more exciting to drive.
However, with the Mercedes going out of production and the BMW being more aggressive than the Audi, the comfortable RS5 is considerably more suitable as an everyday car.
The 2-door Coupe version of the RS5 has a 450-litre boot, while the 5-door Sportback hatchback is more practical, offering 465 litres with the rear seats in place and 1280 litres when folded down.
Audi offers the basic RS5 – which is a very capable and well-specced car in its own right – as well as the RS5 Carbon Black and the RS5 Vorsprung. The latter 2 are mainly concerned with distinctive wheel and styling changes.
Yes. All RS5s get front and rear parking sensors as standard, as part of Audi’s Parking System Plus package.
The RS5 Coupe has a reasonably sized 450-litre boot, but the boot opening isn’t huge and the rear seats are small. If practicality is an important factor for you, then the larger 5-door hatchback Sportback variant is the one to go for.
The Audi RS5 is a popular leasing choice thanks to its incredible engine and performance, the comfort and high quality of its interior, and the reputation and image that comes with the Audi badge.

Benefits Of An Audi RS5
For many, the idea of leasing a high-performance car is dampened by the idea that doing so doesn’t fit into their day-to-day lifestyle. A little hot hatchback or 2-seater convertible can be great fun, but won’t cut the mustard when it comes to handling the school run or a weekend trip to the garden centre.
That’s where cars like the Audi RS models come in – they combine the practical body shapes of the ‘normal’ Audi range with hugely powerful engines and upgraded suspension to offer superb driving thrills with plenty of everyday practicality thrown in.
The RS5 Coupe might not be the most versatile of the bunch, but thankfully Audi has also given the practical Audi A5 Sportback 5-door model the RS treatment.
Like pretty much all Audi cabins these days, the RS5’s interior boasts a high-quality fit and finish, and plenty of sophisticated in-car technology. Inside the car, there are lots of ‘RS’ badges to remind you of what you’re driving, plus a couple of supremely comfortable sculpted sports seats to hug you in place while you hit the accelerator.
There are plenty of screens, with the traditional set of dials behind the steering wheel replaced by Audi’s impressive – and highly configurable – Virtual Cockpit set-up. There’s also a large screen in the centre of the dashboard for infotainment and navigation.
Everything in the RS5 is designed to make things easy for the driver, which means there’s a really nice, focused and cocooned feel at the wheel.
With a 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine generating 450hp, it’s fair to say the RS5 is exceptionally fast. It takes just 3.9 seconds to get from 0-62mph, making it almost untouchable to just about everything on the road other than a multimillion-pound hypercar.
But this RS5 is more than just a brute force, straight-line weapon. It also has suitably upgraded brakes and suspension, designed to handle its immense power safely. This makes it pretty formidable, too, for tackling a twisty backroad.
Purists will find BMW’s M4 slightly sharper and more engaging, while also lamenting the loss of the V8 engine that featured in earlier RS5s. However, for most of us, the sheer speed and capability of the Audi on all types of road and in all weather conditions will be more than intoxicating enough.
Audi RS5 Coupe
The ‘classic’ RS5 body shape is a sporty 2-door coupe that drives brilliantly and looks superb. It’s not the most practical choice, however – with a fairly compact boot and tight back seats.
Audi RS5 Sportback
The RS5 Sportback takes the model’s fantastic engine and chassis package, and adds it into a big family-sized 5-door hatchback, resulting in a very tempting proposition if you want to lease one car to ‘do it all’.
