What Are The Best Cars With 3 ISOFIX Points?

If you have a larger family with several young children, knowing whether your next car includes multiple ISOFIX points is vital. Jonathan Crouch takes a look at the best cars available to lease right now that feature 3 ISOFIX points.

What Are ISOFIX Points?

ISOFIX points are child seat mounting systems, first introduced in 1997 & now mandatory for all new cars built since 2013. ISOFIX points create a solid connection between the child seat & the car creating greater safety.

A study by the German Insurance Association showed that over 70% of children's car seats were regularly installed wrongly when only a seat belt was used, but 96% are installed correctly when an ISOFIX system is used.

How Do ISOFIX Points Work?

ISOFIX points use a metal anchor built into the chassis of the vehicle which the child seat hooks onto securing it in place. Some child seats require an extra base mounting to be used with ISOFIX, so read the paperwork that comes with the product carefully to fit it correctly.

Some models have 2 ISOFIX points on the back seat, others have 3. Some also provide an ISOFIX point on the front passenger seat, but others don't. If you're looking at a 7-seater - maybe an SUV or MPV - it's relatively rare to find ISOFIX points in the third seating row, but a few brands do provide this.

Which Cars Have More Than 3 ISOFIX Points?

Quite a few cars feature more than 3 ISOFIX points. Here are some of the top ranges & models that do:

Supermini-sized cars: Citroen C3, Nissan Micra & Renault ZOE.

Family Hatch Models: Skoda Octavia, Vauxhall Astra, Nissan LEAF & the MINI Clubman.

Compact SUVs: Renault Captur, Vauxhall Grandland X, Peugeot 3008, BMW X1, Audi Q2, Honda CR-V & the MINI Countryman.

Family-sized SUVs: SEAT Tarraco, Peugeot 5008, Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Santa Fe, DS 7 Crossback & the Land Rover Discovery.

Compact MPVs: BMW 2 Series Active Tourer & Gran Tourer, Citroen C4 Space Tourer & Grand C4 Space Tourer, Renault Scenic, Vauxhall Combo Life, Peugeot Rifter & Volkswagen Touran. If you need something bigger take a look at the Volkswagen Sharan, Ford Galaxy, Ford S-MAX & Mercedes V-Class.

Compact & mid-sized executive cars: Volvo V60, Audi A4, A5,
A6 & A7 Sportback, Volvo S90 & V90, & Tesla Model S & Model X.

Our Top Multiple ISOFIX Points Lease Car Picks

With plenty of options to choose from it can be tricky to know what to choose. Here's the top picks to suit any family available to lease at vanarama.com.

Family Hatchbacks

Nissan Leaf

You might be thinking that it's time to take the leap into all-electric motoring & what better car to choose than the Nissan LEAF? This full-electric battery electric vehicle (BEV) has a WLTP-rated driving range of 168 miles in its standard form & if you can locate a 50KW public charging point you'll be able to recharge it from empty to 80% charge in just 40 minutes.

In our offers you'll find a high value mid-range 'Acenta'-spec 40kWh version at a very attractive deal.

Compact & Mid-Sized SUVs

Peugeot 3008

Arguably the most stylish mainstream brand mid-sized SUV out there is the Peugeot 3008. It features a high-quality cabin & confident ride. On the Cars Offers page, you'll find a choice of high-value 1.2-litre PureTech EAT8 auto petrol models, a mid-range Allure spec & another with the plush GT-Line Premium trim. The 3008 has a big 520-litre boot & if you fold the rear bench, you'll get a total luggage capacity of 1580-litres - one of the biggest capacities in the sector.

If you want a mid-sized SUV, try the Audi Q3. The Cars Offers page currently has a great deal on a Q3 in sporty petrol 35 TFSI S line spec, or there's a great deal on a comparable BMW X1 in petrol-powered 18i M Sport trim.

For Larger Families

C4 Space Tourer

If you need more room & plenty of ISOFIX child seat points, I'd recommend the Citroen C4 SpaceTourer. It's still one of the best-riding family cars out there & has a clever extending front windscreen & separately sliding second row of seats - great if you're trying to find room for multiple child seats.

Our offers currently include the 1.2-litre petrol Flair Plus C4 Space Tourer variant at an attractive lease price. If you need space for 7 with plenty of ISOFIX points, the same page will give you a great deal on the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace - available in 2.0 TDI diesel SE L form with DSG auto transmission. The Tiguan Allspace is an SUV but features plenty of People Carrier-style touches that are ideal for family motoring.
