Why Lease An MG ZS?
What’s The Cabin Like?
How Does It Drive?
The ZS is smaller than MG’s other SUV – the HS. And while its smaller size means there isn’t as much space inside, it’s still more than enough for what you need. Considering you’ll be paying similar leasing rates as much smaller cars, the ZS has a very decent amount of head- and legroom both in the front and the back. Taller drivers and passengers will be able to get comfortable very easily, but there aren’t many nods to functions which would increase rear-seat practicality, such as adjustable or sliding seats.
Boot space is generous at 448 litres, but if you choose the electric ZS EV, you’ll get even more. Its 470 litres increases to 1100 litres with the rear seats folded, and an adjustable boot floor and 60/40 split rear seats give more flexibility.
The cabin has storage spaces in the centre console and on the doors, including good-sized door pockets.
A value-driven brand, modern-day MGs are focused on being easy on the finances – and that includes when it comes to fuel economy and running costs. The petrol engines are relatively economical, achieving up to between 39- and 47.2mpg on official economy tests.
The electric ZS EV can officially travel up to 163 miles on a single charge. In real-world conditions though, you’ll likely get less than that.
MG ZSThere’s just 1 body style for the ZS, which is a 5-door SUV.
Electric ModelsCore MG ZS models are powered by a choice of petrol engines, but there is also an all-electric version. The MG ZS EV has a 143hp electric motor, which is good for a range of up to 163 miles.
The MG ZS Vs Competitors
With more space than an equivalent small car such as the Vauxhall Corsa, but for the same price, the MG ZS offers impressive value for money.
MG doesn’t fare too well in customer satisfaction and reliability surveys, but owners generally praise the ZS. The ZS EV scores higher than the petrol models for reliability and a 7-year/80,000-mile warranty is standard across the range.
Fitted with a 44.5kWh battery, the MG ZS EV has a 105kW/143hp electric motor and has a quoted electric range of up to 163 miles, according to official economy tests.
There are numerous ways to charge the ZS EV, all of them taking varying amounts of time. Connected to a 7kW wallbox – the most common type of home charger – the ZS EV can be charged from 0-100% in 6.5 hours. On a 50kW rapid charger, a 0-80% battery refill takes 40 minutes.
The MG ZS has 448 litres of luggage space with the rear seats in place – with 470 litres, the ZS EV has even more – and if you fold them down there is 1375 litres. That’s more than the Dacia Duster.
The high level of standard equipment, amount of space for the leasing rate and decent drive make the MG ZS a popular choice. The ZS EV offers the same space and practicality benefits as the petrol versions, but with the advantage of zero-emissions running.
