Why Lease A Honda Civic?
What’s The Cabin Like?
How Does It Drive?
The Civic isn’t the most practical car of this type on the market. Rear headroom is tight, thanks to that sweeping roofline, and children will find it quite dark due to the high windows. It’s no match for a Skoda Octavia. The boot is better though, with 478 litres of space. That’s bigger than a lot of rivals, but the Octavia is larger still. You can fold the rear seats down in a 60/40 split for extra space, and there’s a good, if not spectacular, amount of storage space around the car. These include a big glovebox, reasonable door pockets and a cubby hole in the centre console underneath a sliding cover.
Monthly leasing costs for the Civic are slightly higher than some rivals and its engines slightly less efficient – other cars, such as the Ford Focus, have a mild-hybrid system to reduce consumption, while other full hybrid and plug-in hybrid alternatives are available too, including the Toyota Corolla and Skoda Octavia. The Civic’s 1.0-litre petrol engine promises up to 47.9mpg, depending on spec. The Type R will drink fuel far more quickly and promises a maximum of 34mpg.

The Civic Type R also has 5 doors, and gains a garish bodykit and a huge rear wing. It looks bonkers, but it’s lots of fun.Trim Levels

Decent as the Civic is, the Toyota’s Corolla’s hybrid powertrain is a draw for many, and it’s also available as an estate and a saloon, giving leasing customers more choice.
The Civic is a long-established brand name in the UK and that legacy, combined with a history of great reliability, gives it lots of fans. In addition, the latest version is striking to look at and the flagship Civic Type R is one of the best hot hatches available.
Honda has an excellent reputation for reliability, although recent reliability studies have put the Civic in the middle of the hatchback pack. Overall though, you’d be unlucky to have any problems with it.
The current-generation Civic is nearing the end of its life, with a replacement model expected to be revealed in 2021.
If you want performance from your Civic, then the only real option is the Civic Type R. With 320hp, it’s a proper hot hatch.
