Honda Civic Leasing

Honda’s Civic is a family hatchback that doesn’t look like anything else on the road. If you hate blending in, then its aggressive exterior lines could well woo you. A solid driving experience adds to the appeal, and if you’re after a hot hatch then the Civic Type R is tremendous fun.

Top 3 Things

Standout styling.

Hot Type R performance model.

Generous equipment levels.

  • The Civic isn’t the most practical car of this type on the market. Rear headroom is tight, thanks to that sweeping roofline, and children will find it quite dark due to the high windows. It’s no match for a Skoda Octavia. The boot is better though, with 478 litres of space. That’s bigger than a lot of rivals, but the Octavia is larger still. You can fold the rear seats down in a 60/40 split for extra space, and there’s a good, if not spectacular, amount of storage space around the car. These include a big glovebox, reasonable door pockets and a cubby hole in the centre console underneath a sliding cover.

  • Monthly leasing costs for the Civic are slightly higher than some rivals and its engines slightly less efficient – other cars, such as the Ford Focus, have a mild-hybrid system to reduce consumption, while other full hybrid and plug-in hybrid alternatives are available too, including the Toyota Corolla and Skoda Octavia. The Civic’s 1.0-litre petrol engine promises up to 47.9mpg, depending on spec. The Type R will drink fuel far more quickly and promises a maximum of 34mpg.

Models Available

The Civic is available only in 5-door hatchback form. A saloon was previously available, but has been discontinued.

High Performance Models

The Civic Type R also has 5 doors, and gains a garish bodykit and a huge rear wing. It looks bonkers, but it’s lots of fun.

Trim Levels

Standard features on the entry-level Civic S include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and the Honda Sensing suite of safety systems, as well as a 5-inch screen with DAB radio and Bluetooth.Trim Levels Available: S, SE, SR, EX, EX Sport Line, Sport, Type R Sport Line, Type R GT

The Honda Civic Vs Competitors

The king of the small family car segment is the Ford Focus, which does everything well and is great to drive, too. It doesn’t have the Civic’s bold looks, though. You should also consider the very decent Vauxhall Astra, while lease deals on Toyota’s Corolla are worth a look if you’re after a hybrid. The Skoda Octavia is available as a plug-in hybrid and is also a firm favourite among leasing customers – it’s remarkably affordable and more practical than just about anything else on the market.
  • Yes, although it’s not the best of its type. It trades on its looks and solid driving performance, as well as a big boot. That said, that Civic Type R is one of the best performance hatchbacks you can lease.

  • Decent as the Civic is, the Toyota’s Corolla’s hybrid powertrain is a draw for many, and it’s also available as an estate and a saloon, giving leasing customers more choice.

  • The Civic is a long-established brand name in the UK and that legacy, combined with a history of great reliability, gives it lots of fans. In addition, the latest version is striking to look at and the flagship Civic Type R is one of the best hot hatches available.

  • Honda has an excellent reputation for reliability, although recent reliability studies have put the Civic in the middle of the hatchback pack. Overall though, you’d be unlucky to have any problems with it.

  • The current-generation Civic is nearing the end of its life, with a replacement model expected to be revealed in 2021.

  • If you want performance from your Civic, then the only real option is the Civic Type R. With 320hp, it’s a proper hot hatch.

  • Leasing a Civic with Vanarama is the smartest way to upgrade what you drive. Not only will you get the best price, guaranteed with our Price Promise*, there’s also no hidden fees, extra protection should the worst happen and access to expert advice when you need it!
