Why Lease A Hyundai i10?
What’s The Cabin Like?
How Does It Drive?
The 2 front seats offer plenty of head- and legroom for all but the tallest people. However, as is the case with most smaller hatchbacks like this, the real compromise comes when you get to the rear seats and boot. In this case, the latest Hyundai i10 makes the most of its slightly larger dimensions and will seat 3 adults at a squeeze. The centre-rear seat is narrow but there’s no intruding floor hump, so legroom isn’t compromised.
The boot offers a respectable 252 litres of space – and this expands to 1050 litres with the seats down. It’s well above most rivals and not far off the figures for larger cars like the Renault Clio and Ford Fiesta.
Both front and rear doors have handy pockets that can take large water bottles, and there’s a storage slot ahead of the gearlever for your phone or keys, as well as a bottle holder in the centre console.
Low running costs are what a small hatchback is all about, and the base 67hp 1.0-litre engine leads the pack with 56.5mpg in mixed driving conditions. The 84hp 1.2-litre unit returns 52.3mpg, which is a small price to pay for the much-improved performance it delivers.
The real star, though, is the turbocharged 100hp engine. This also offers 52.3mpg and is even more enjoyable to drive. Be aware, though, that regularly enjoying that turbocharged shove will quickly lower that figure.

The Hyundai i10 Vs Competitors
Hyundai as a brand is known for building reliable vehicles. The i10 is no different and it is offered with a 5-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. This betters most rivals aside from the Kia Picanto, which has a 7-year warranty (albeit limited to 100,000 miles after the initial 3 years of unlimited cover).
The Hyundai i10 has 251 litres with the seats up and 1050 litres with them down. The first figure is on par with the Volkswagen Up and Kia Picanto, while the latter number betters them both.
This is important because picking the right trims and specs is crucial to getting the best i10 experience. We recommend avoiding the base SE spec and choose the SE Connect instead. It adds alloy wheels, a rear-view camera and, most importantly, the 8-inch touchscreen display. It also lets you pick the stronger 84hp engine. The Premium and N Line are more about visual improvements – but if you want the 100hp engine, it can only be had with the top-spec N Line.
No. All trims from the SE Connect and up do come with a rear-view camera, though.
For a small hatchback, the Hyundai i10 is one of the most spacious and practical around. It can fit 5 adults – although the 3 in the back will need to be good friends – and there are a number of useful storage spots for phones and wallets. If you regularly want to pack people in the back along with their luggage, though, then it’s best to look at something bigger.
It looks and feels as if it was built to be a class leader rather than simply to fill basic transport needs. It’s enjoyable to drive and is as spacious as the smallest-of-the-small hatchbacks get.
