Kia Picanto Lease Deals

The Picanto is the smallest Kia available to lease. It qualifies as a city car – which means it’s physically smaller than vehicles such as the Ford Fiesta, but it still offers a more than acceptable amount of room and technology. If you only drive about town and rarely venture out of urban areas, a city car should fulfil most, if not all, of your needs. The best city cars can be used both in town and out of it though, and the Kia Picanto does this with considerable ease.

Kia Picanto Top Features

Image

Relatively efficient engines.

Simple and easy-to-use interior.

One of the biggest boots in its class.

  • Practicality is a relative term with any city car. Seats that slide back further than some rivals mean tall people won’t have any issues getting comfortable in the front of the Picanto. The Picanto is quite a tall machine, which translates into good rear headroom.

The boot is big for the class at 255 litres, usefully larger than those of the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo X. The rear seats fold in a 60/40 split for more versatility, resulting in 1010 litres of load space in all, but there are no clever tricks, such as sliding rear seats or height-adjustable boot floors. Other practical touches include a sliding centre console (with cubby), a pair of cupholders and useful door pockets.

  • Small dimensions and a relatively light body weight makes the Picanto an efficient car. There may be no diesel or hybrid options, but the Kia’s pair of 1.0-litre petrol engines produce good fuel economy figures.

As a guide, the 1.0-litre 67hp non-turbocharged engine achieves up to 67.3mpg on official fuel economy tests. The 1.0-litre 100hp turbocharged version is good for up to 51.3mpg.

The Kia Picanto Vs Competitors

Dinkier than a small supermini such as the Kia Rio, city cars have become a common sight over recent years. The Picanto’s main rivals include the trio of the Citroen C1, Peugeot 108 and Toyota Aygo X, which are, to all intents and purposes, the same product. The Toyota offers a more daring style than the Citroen or Peugeot, but all share the same underpinnings and 1.0-litre engine. Another rival is the well-equipped Hyundai i10, which is related to the Picanto itself.

The Volkswagen Up also muscles in on the Picanto and has been a consistently popular contender in the city-car landscape since it arrived in 2012. Good to drive and sit in, it also offers a proper GTI sports model and an all-electric version, which has a range of 159 miles.

The Suzuki Ignis is unique in this sector as it comes with the option of 4-wheel drive and hybrid technology – all wrapped up in a mini-SUV body. It’s also worth noting that for a similar leasing rate as the Kia Picanto, larger cars such as the Dacia Sandero offer more space.

  • The Picanto finished ahead of the Suzuki Ignis but behind the Toyota Aygo in the 2020 What Car? Reliability Survey. Overall, Kia was placed 7th out of 31 brands, and all its models have a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty as standard.

  • The Kia Picanto’s boot holds 255 litres, which is more than the Peugeot 108 and a lot more than the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo. The Picanto also just pips the Volkswagen Up – but the Suzuki Ignis trumps the Kia.

  • The Picanto model family encompasses a wide range of leasing deals. The entry-level 1 is followed by the 2 and 3, while the X-Line and X-Line S add some SUV-type styling touches, a 15mm ride-height increase for more ground clearance and also extra equipment. The GT-Line and GT-Line S are the sportiest-looking Picantos, with their red exterior and interior highlights.

  • Rear parking sensors and a reversing camera are standard on Picanto 3, X-Line, X-Line S and GT-Line S models. Depending on the shade chosen though, the sensors may not match the exterior body colour.

  • Classed as a city car – a vehicle smaller than a supermini such as the Ford Fiesta – the Kia Picanto is not going to be the most practical family transport if your brood is much older than a brace of early teens. Saying that, headroom is good in the back.

  • With a decent amount of equipment from the middle trim levels upwards, enjoyable driving and good efficiency, the Kia Picanto is a small car with a big list of things to like.
