If you are at all uncertain about which van to opt for in your current search then you can't go wrong with a Ford. So say the 30,000 plus commercial vehicle drivers who have voted with their feet and bought a Ford van or pick-up truck so far this year.
Commercial vehicle registrations are still up year-to-date despite a dip in May, according to new figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders released last week. The total number of registrations so far this year hit 127,461; this represents an 8.3% improvement on the same period in 2012.
While Ford leads the sales in vans, all manufacturers are doing well and we are pleased to report that vans are the backbone of the year-to-date success story with a 13% rise in total numbers sold so far in 2013.
"It remains tough out there economically, but the reality that van sales are strong is a good indicator that things might be starting to pick-up for the smaller business owner. Commercial vehicles are used by small and medium sized firms across the board to enhance their business and van leasing is playing a growing part in this. The very fact that more people are willing to invest in vans as a business tool is really positive," says Andy Alderson, managing director of Vanarama.
The industry-leading Ford Transit remains the market leader - more than 25,000 have been sold so far this year. The Ford Transit also leads the one tonne, two tonne and 3.5 - 6 tonne commercial vehicle segments. Its share of the once tonne segment is now supplemented by the introduction of the Transit Custom and the Tourneo Custom.
