The Kia Xceed, as its name suggests, is a Ceed hatch that has been raised by 44mm to create a type of crossover. Kia already sells the Sportage as a crossover & the Sorento as a full-size SUV, so it sits just below those 2 in its line-up. The Xceed is also longer, wider, & taller than the Ceed hatchback upon which it's based.
For those who want the Ceed hatchback, but wrapped in a higher-riding, crossover-like package with some extra sportiness sprinkled on its design, then the Kia XCeed is what you’re looking for. Its underpinnings are pretty much identical to those of the regular Ceed, but for some buyers, the fact that you sit higher off the ground in combination with the more rakish design will make it an interesting proposition.
Just like the Ford Focus Active the Xceed is another mash-up involving a popular hatchback clad with funky SUV styling cues. So, while based on the Kia Ceed hatchback, the XCeed gets some smart plastic wheel arches, chunkier bumpers & a set of roof rails to boot.
The Xceed is also quite a bit pricier than the regular Ceed hatchback. And while it starts off cheaper than a Focus Active, there are more affordable & better family cars to choose from. If it’s space or SUV-ness you're after, ‘proper’ SUVs, like the roomier Skoda Karoq, are available for a similar price.
“There is a growing desire for cars that offer more emotion & dynamism than an SUV, yet these customers don’t want to lose the practicality offered by a larger car. Enter the Xceed.”
