Why Lease A Ford Mondeo?
What’s The Cabin Like?
How Does It Drive?
The Mondeo is spacious inside and is up there with the best in its class in that respect, capable of comfortably fitting 4 adults plus a child in the centre-rear seat. The hatchback’s rear opening makes loading larger items easy enough and the 541 litres of boot space with the rear seats up is a better offering than that of the Mazda6, though trails the Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb.
If you need even more space, the estate version is the one to choose. The low load lip won’t have you straining your back, and with the seats folded flat you get a decent 1605 litres of boot space as opposed to the hatchback’s 1437 litres in this configuration.
If you’re looking for ultimate efficiency, the base 150hp diesel powerplant is the one to get. It manages 57mpg when equipped with a manual gearbox, dropping to around 52mpg with the automatic. The more potent 190hp diesel is hardly less efficient, offering 50mpg when equipped with the standard automatic – the optional 4-wheel-drive powertrain lowers this to 46mpg.
The petrol hybrid offers a combined 50mpg, which is admittedly not as impressive as some rival offerings. Unlike plug-in hybrids, this set-up uses a small battery which is replenished when the car is driving normally, meaning it can operate in purely electric mode only for short periods. From a running cost point of view, the hybrid Mondeo does fall into a slightly lower tax category than the diesels.

The Ford Mondeo Vs Competitors
The Ford Mondeo has generally scored well in reliability reviews. It’s been on sale for a number of years now, which usually means any niggling issues have been ironed out. An industry standard 3-year/60,000-mile warranty is offered on all new Fords.
The Ford Mondeo hatchback offers 541 litres of boot space, extending to 1437 litres with the rear seats lowered. The estate offers slightly less space with the rear seats up (500 litres) but is more spacious with them down, at 1605 litres.
The Mondeo is available in Zetec, Titanium, ST-Line and Vignale trims. The ST-Line adds a touch of sportiness with larger wheels and firmer suspension. The Vignale is all about luxury, with 10-way electric heated, cooled and massaging front seats finished in perforated leather.
Yes, every Mondeo comes equipped with front and rear parking sensors as standard.
The current-generation Ford Mondeo has been on sale in the UK since 2014, and even earlier in other markets. Ford has stated that it will be discontinued in early 2022.
The Mondeo is a fantastic leasing option which feels like a more substantial car than its price point would suggest. It’s as comfortable as some of the more expensive alternatives in the segment and few rivals offer such a composed ride, especially over poor surfaces.
