Why Lease the Ford S-Max?
Introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, the S-Max went on sale alongside the new generation Galaxy in June 2006. Intended to be as sporty as a saloon and spacious as an MPV, the S-Max draws inspiration from the 7-seater large Galaxy, and compact MPV Ford C-Max. Now on its second generation, it hasn’t been left unchanged. Along with the Galaxy it has been recently facelifted allowing increased levels of tech and a new grille.
Models Available
Ford likes to refer to the S-Max as an SUV because of the Galaxy MPV in its range, but don’t be fooled. It’s very much an MPV and rather than looking like a van with windows, the Ford is more like a tall estate car with a nicely sloped roofline, and it has been engineered to drive and handle like a well-to-do saloon.
Comparison
The S-Max doesn’t really have any direct rivals but looks a bit less van-like than other MPVs such as Ford’s own Galaxy. Its closest rival would be the Volkswagen Touran. The S-Max is definitely the best MPV among its rivals to drive, but this clearly comes at a cost, because the Ford is also quite expensive compared to the Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer and Renault Grand Scenic, while even the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer has a slightly lower starting price.
