Two matchdays, 170 goals and already a ruthless managerial axing. Welcome back, Vanarama National League football!

The new season is well and truly underway and the three divisions are certainly back with a loud bang.

After nothing to chew on for three months, the matches have been coming thick and fast with shock results and wonder goals already flying in, we're loving every minute of it.

It's already quite hard to keep up, so let's give the first week to you straight - it's not been a timid opening as the new campaign swings back into life.

With the Vanarama National League, you must always expect the unexpected.

When FC Halifax only appointed new manager Pete Wild with ten days until the start of the season, many thought the chaos would catch up with them.

Far from it! The Shaymen are top of the fledgling table with two wins from two after Ebbsfleet United and Hartlepool United were put to the sword.

They are the only 100 per centers - but it's been a strong four-point start too for Harrogate, Sutton United, AFC Fylde and Barnet.

Also taking a win and a draw are Wrexham, Maidenhead, Bromley, Solihull Moors. What does this weekend hold?

But nothing is quite as surprising as the events late on Wednesday night at Vanarama National League North club Bradford PA.

They fired new manager Garry Thompson only two games into the season following back-to-back 5-0 defeats to Curzon Ashton and Guiseley.

It's the Lions who lead the way, with York City, Hereford, Curzon, Leamington and newcomers Farsley also putting four points on the table in the first few days.

There are four sides winning two from two in the Vanarama National League South - and some names you wouldn't expect are sitting pretty.

What a start for outsiders Dulwich Hamlet, Dorking Wanderers and Concord Rangers, who have been fantastic in the campaign's opening games against the odds.

Billericay Town are more fancied and they've lived up to the hype after early narrow wins over Eastbourne Borough and Braintree Town.

There's more to come says player-coach Jamie O'Hara - we've got the popcorn at the ready!
