Our Approach To Hybrid And Remote Working
Like many businesses, Covid has completely changed the way we work. We’ve embraced the change and adopted a permanent hybrid working solution that allows for our people to be in the office, fully remote or a mixture of the two. We’ve found adopting a model that can suit all needs whilst maintaining and developing our culture is working extremely well. This also allows us to attract talent from a wider pool and ensure the best people are able to work the hours, days and times that suit a better work/life balance for them.
Training & Development
Training and development at Vanarama is an integral part of our culture. So much so that we started The Vanarama Academy to truly invest in training and skills development that delivers tangible benefits. In 2020, we even achieved the highest possible recognition via the 2020 ‘Princess Royal Training Award’ with personal congratulations from HRH Princess Anne on achieving the standard of excellence.
In the past year we’ve run 150 internal training courses for more than 1,000 attendees designed specifically around our people’s needs. With onsite mentoring as well as monthly guest speakers and access to training portals like MASTERCLASS, developing our skills and expertise extends way beyond the conventional.

Wellbeing And Physical Wellbeing
With the stresses and challenges people are faced with on a day-to-day basis, we know that mental health in particular is a really important subject to tackle head-on. That’s why we have 5 Mental Wellbeing Counsellors trained and available to support our teams, either onsite or via video call. This is alongside the support of external Mental Wellbeing Expert David Beeney and dedicated online training modules to help the team ensure they put their own wellbeing first.

From sector to national and customer-focused, Vanarama has won a range of awards over the years.
The UK CX Awards are the most recognised and prestigious awards for customer experience in the UK. They’re also recognised as the hardest awards to win as multiple judges scrutinise each 2000-word entry before entrants present to a separate panel of judges for 30 minutes.
Most recently, at 2021's CX Awards, we won 7 Gold Awards and 1 Silver award in the 8 categories we entered, beating off BT, Sky Bet, Virgin Money, Vauxhall and Vitality in the process. Here are the awards we won:

Vanarama was confirmed as a Sunday Times 100 Best Small Company To Work For in the UK in 2016 2017 and 2018, with Andy Alderson (CEO) being named Best Leader at the 2017 awards ceremony.
We're delighted to have also been recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the Best Small Companies To Work For in the UK.
In 2015, we won the highly prestigious Lloyds National Business Award for Best Small to Medium Sized Business 2015, an accolade that recognised our commitment to training, customer service and innovation.
Through a charity partnership with Prostate Cancer UK, we won the BT Sport Industry Sponsorship Campaign Of The Year 2019, Business Charity Awards - Campaign Of The Year 2019 and Football Business Awards - Silver For Sponsorship Of The Year and Gold for Brand Activation for the Manarama campaign which saw us rename the League to support the charity and raise £150k.
