Searching for the right van for your firm can be a tricky business. That's why British Gas asked its engineers which commercial vehicle they think would best meet their work needs, before buying its latest fleet. And the overwhelming response? Ford Transit.
The Transit was Britain's top selling van by a country mile last year with over 48,000 registered. This isn't surprising; when there are so many choices available there really is a model to suit everyone.
So British Gas has now ordered 520 of Britain's most popular van - 330 medium wheelbase, medium roof vehicles equipped with speed-limiter, air-con and winter tyres. There will also be 32 four-wheel drive variants, for the heroes who come and re-connect our gas, even in the most severe of weather!
Anyone worried about their fuel bill can rest-assured. Cost savings were achieved by recycling the bespoke racking systems fitted to British Gas' existing Transit models.
So, next time you have dodgy heating, lookout for one of British Gas' Transits, and if you are looking for a new van yourself, consider taking a leaf out of the company's book - over 520 British Gas Engineers can't be wrong!
