Everything we know about… the 2019 Commercial Vehicle Show!

We've got all the info on what you can expect to see at this year's Commercial Vehicle Show. So, if you want to be in the know keep reading…Vanarama's Tia Richards reports.

It's the final count down

Don't worry, this article isn't just about when this year's CV Show is happening, but for those of you who don't know when it is, the dates to remember are:

  • Tuesday 30th of April (8:30-17:00)
  • Wednesday 1st of May (8:30-17:00)
  • Thursday 2nd of May (8:30-16:30)

And, you might not have heard this here first but, the exhibition is at the NEC in Birmingham. Anyway, let's get onto the info that most of you don't know about…

The main news here is that the all-new Berlingo will be taking centre stage in Citroen's exhibition hall at the CV Show. But it's no surprise, after all it did win International Van of the Year for 2019.

So, we would love to say it was a coincidence that we just happened to have the brand-spanking-new Berlingo van but, that's not the case. It's a vehicle that we're reviewing, so the drive up to Birmingham for the CV Show media day was a perfect excuse to get to grips with how it handles the road. And let's just say you won't be disappointed, in fact it was quite the smooth operator on the motorway and on our unexpected scenic route.

Also joining the Citroen Berlingo on its red carpet (who's practically a celeb after winning the van of the year) is the Dispatch and Relay in their revamped Worker or Driver configurations, with three potential trim levels to mirror the Berlingo.

And that's not all for Citroen…

This year marks Citroen's centenary, so when you see an old iron van on display don't mistake it for a reveal of a new van! They're celebrating, and with good reason.

Ladies and gentlemen please welcome… the all-new Peugeot Partner van!

The Partner van will take most of the limelight when it comes to Peugeot's exhibition, it's probably because it ALSO won International Van of the Year. So, expect that red carpet here too.

It's the third generation Partner van so it includes all the good stuff from its previous predecessors. But we think you'll be pleased to know that this version has ramped up it's loading capacity, dynamics AND its driver assistance system. The i-Cockpit is of course included too.

The world premiere of the new Vauxhall Vivaro takes place at the CV Show. Will it make you love the Vivaro even more?

They also made it clear that Brexit won't be a worry for them when it (eventually) happens. All its vehicles are built in Britain in its Luton-based manufacturing plant, so Vauxhall is here to stay.

All eyes will be on the PSA Groupe at the CV Show. They've got A LOT to offer for commercial vehicles. And their awards make them the A-listers. There's no better way to show you're winning (in the LCV sector) when you've got a cabinet filled with International Van of the Year awards.

And competition will be rife; the PSA Groupe isn't the only manufacturer there…

If you read our other blogs, you won't be surprised to know that Volkswagen are releasing a pair of electric vans. The e-Caddy and e-Transporter will make their first public debut at the CV Show along with the e-Crafter.

Volkswagen will also showcase its non-electric van and pickup range:

  • Crafter CR50 LWB Panel van
  • Crafter CR35 MWB ETG minibus
  • Caddy Life LWB (wheelchair accessible vehicle)
  • Amarok Aventura 2
  • Transporter SWB kombi Sportline
  • Crafter LWB panel van CR35

If you're a fan of the L200 5 series, you'll be pleased to know that it's showing its face on Mitsubishi's exhibition stand. The trojan-like pickup will be joined by other members of the Mitsubishi commercial vehicle family including: the world's first plug in hybrid, the Outlander PHEV and the ultimate 4X4 Shogun Commercial will be supporting the L200.

Oh, and maybe we should mention that there's a celeb in the Mitsubishi household too – maybe the CV Show should put another order in for more of that velour red carpet. Anyway, give a round of applause for the Shogun Sport for winning Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year 2019.

Toyota kept its cards close to its chest at the CV Show media day. But we did get some info out of them… the main exhibit will be the launch of a new small van that they likened to the Citroen Berlingo and Peugeot Partner. Other exhibits will include their Hilux, Proace and Lane Cruiser.

We've saved the best till last. Ford never disappoint, do they?

Instead of just telling you what their hall will have on show, we think we should keep you in suspense for a bit longer and let you wait till the day for you to find out… JUST KIDDING!

Well if you hadn't guessed already the RANGER RAPTOR will be making an appearance, FINALLY! Another face we've been waiting to see is this year's Ford Ranger, and a 2-tonne Transit and updated Transit Custom also have reserved spaces on the stand.

Be there or be square
