It's Christmas, which means only one thing - Santa's getting ready to deliver presents to all the good girls & boys. At Vanarama, we'd love to provide Santa with a fleet of vans to make his life easier & this year we'd definitely recommend the excellent Ford Transit large panel van. Vanarama Van Expert Tom Roberts explains why.
I'm convinced that Santa would have an easier time at Christmas if he had a fleet of vans driving around delivering his presents. They'd be magic-powered, of course, but the brand display opportunities provided by a fleet of Santa Vans would be enormous. He should really look into it.
Of course, Vanarama would be one of the first fleet providers in line to see if we could find him the perfect vans, & we'd start with the excellent Ford Transit large panel vans. They combine the perfect level of driver comfort & practicality we think Santa would appreciate. So, let's get going & take a look at the Ford Transit van & what Santa could fit in the back.
What Could Santa Carry In Each Ford Transit?
Okay, so we all know that Santa is magic & I'm allowing for that in my calculations - I've also taken the largest possible Ford Transit - the H3L4 to ensure he's got enough room. I imagine this year's presents would be a blend of tech such as Amazon Echo Dots & PlayStation 5s, & the usual perfumes, candles & various other smellies… & more than a few Baby Yodas!
Check out the table below to see what I reckon he could carry in one load:
Present | Dimensions In MM | Quantity | Total M3 |
Google Nest Mini | 42 x 98 x 98 | 75 | 0.03 |
Amazon Echo Dot (4th Gen) | 89 x 100 x 100 | 75 | 0.07 |
Fitbit Versa 2 with Amazon Alexa | 12.2 x 40.5 x 39.8 | 75 | 0.00 |
Apple MacBook Air 13.3" (2020) | 16.1 x 304.1 x 212.4 | 95 | 0.10 |
Oculus Quest 2 VR Gaming Headset | 150 x 300 x 350 | 75 | 1.18 |
Dyson Airwrap Gift Edition Hair Styler | 166 x 384 x 186 | 75 | 0.89 |
Nespresso Vertuo Plus M600 Coffee Machine | 325 x 232 x 335 | 80 | 2.02 |
Sony Playstation 5 | 390 × 260 × 104 | 90 | 0.91 |
LG 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD OLED TV | 706 x 1228 x 46.9 | 50 | 2.03 |
Star Wars The Child Animatronic Edition | 102 x 254 x 254 | 70 | 0.46 |
Bopster 2 Wheeled Folding Kick Scooter | 640 x 244 x 104 | 50 | 0.81 |
Yankee Candle 11 Piece Christmas Set | 417 x 254 x 109 | 70 | 0.81 |
Chanel no 5 50ml | 340 x 104 620 | 75 | 1.64 |
Dior Sauvage 60ml | 533 x 112 x 127 | 75 | 0.57 |
Total | 11.52 m3 | ||
Add 30% For Packaging | 14.98 m3 |
As you'll see, I've allowed a bit of space for packaging & Santa's magical abilities would negate payload (because he'll make the vans fly, of course).
Ford Transit - Santa's Choice
The Ford Transit is an iconic van that continues to be rated so highly by users that its name is still used to describe all large vans. The latest version is, frankly, the best thanks to the efficient & powerful 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engines, a new look, more cabin features & the same practical loading bay.
Users can choose from up to 3 body lengths, up to 2 wheelbase lengths & 2 roof heights affecting the payloads which start at just under 1000kg & max out at just under 1500kg. For my money, the Ford Transit offers the best combination of space & price. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter might be in a position to offer more tech & traditional Merc trim levels, but the Transit just can't be beaten (in my opinion).
To get the job done, I think Santa would take the biggest Transit he could - the H3L4 version (longest & highest) - to ensure he could fit as much as possible in each van. It's my favourite because it dominates the road. Seriously, it's massive!
Tom's Takeaways
Well, what can I say? This has to be one of the most random articles I've ever taken the time to research & write. Santa's a man of smart choices, which is why I believe he'd be right at home in the Ford Transit. Do you agree, or do you think Santa would choose a different van? Let me know.
All that's left for me to say now is I hope you all have a wonderful festive break & I'll see you in 2021. Oh, & Santa… if you're in the market for a van lease (or 500), you know who to come to.
